Burbank Films Australia may have done some animations that I don't like all that much, but most of them I do. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer I do like, it is not one of my favourites like Wind in the Willows, Peter Pan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame but is one of their better efforts. The animation quality is not as colourful or as vibrant as I would have preferred, and some of the character designs do lack finesse. A lot of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer does work though, the writing has some nice amusing moments and the story even with a couple of moments that did feel padded is exciting. The music is good with some rousing and recognisable themes and lively orchestration, and the characters all engage from the likable Tom and Huck, appealing Becky and the sinister(but not overly so) Injun Joe. The voice acting is solid, from the spirited youngsters to the relished but thankfully not stereotyped voice used for Injun Joe. All in all, imperfect maybe but well worth seeing. 8/10 Bethany Cox
