The first trailer has been unveiled for Luke Willis’ documentary “Lady Like,” which will have its world premiere as the closing film of BFI Flare London Lgbtqia+ Film Festival.
The film follows the story of London-born, San Francisco-based drag queen Lady Camden, Aka Rex Wheeler, as she is catapulted into the spotlight on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 14. Lady Camden struggles to manage the demands of her new international fame, while Rex is forced to come to terms with the troubling childhood he left behind in Camden which drove him to so desperately seek joy, fantasy and escape through the performing arts.
“Lady Like” is the first feature film by Willis, whose previous credits include shorts “Pool Boy” and “The Summer House,” both selected at previous BFI Flare editions. Willis produced the film along with Cookie Walukas (“Selah and the Spades”).
“I still remember the first time I met Rex and his infectiously joyful energy.

It was no surprise to hear this week that studios already have sequels like The Avengers 2 and Smurfs 3 in the works, but with Cannes kicking off, there are bound to be many more, new and exciting projects announced soon. In the meantime, here are a few interesting and/or noteworthy projects that were recently added to IMDbPro's database of development titles:
Amazing Girl – Zoe Saldana stars in this project from Transformers producer Ian Bryce. Written by Pool Boys scribe Justin Ware, the comedy centers on a burnt-out superhero looking to make a fresh start for herself as a normal civilian.
They Came Together – Parks and Recreation rivals Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler are set to star in this romcom from their Wet Hot American Summer creators David Wain and Michael Showalter. Lionsgate is producing the project with Wain on board to direct.
D – Roman Polanski reunites with his Ghost Writer scribe Robert Harris for this dramatic feature based on the scandalous Dreyfus Affair, which involved the wrongful conviction of a Jewish French captain who was accused of treason in the late 19th Century and sentenced to death.
This Man, This Woman – Pariah filmmaker Dee Rees has been tapped to direct this indie drama about a divorced couple who begin to rekindle their relationship after randomly being seated next to each other on an airplane. Veteran screenwriter Frederic Raphael (Two for the Road, Eyes Wide Shut) penned the script. Mike Lobell produces.
Cali – Nick Cassavettes teams up with Twilight's Kristen Stewart for this action comedy about a guy and a girl trying to flee L.A., but are forced to return in order to save the woman's sister. Voltage Pictures and New School Media are producing the film written by 30:Minutes or Less writer Michael Diliberti.

Even worse, his wife is having an affair with a rival Mexican pool cleaner (Bryan Callen). And if that isn’t bad enough, Bando’s wife and son are then killed by bad-ass Mexican boss Caesar (Trejo). Final Destination 5 I enjoyed this movie for the short time I was in the theater, but I had to look back at my review for any kind of reminder as to how things played out, which is to say it's decent but forgettable. I did enjoy the ending and there were a few fun kills in 3D, which I imagine will look even more silly at home, but then again I hope you aren't considering buying this one as a rental will more than suffice.
Apollo 18 I don't believe a single good thing was said about this film, which bounced all around the release calendar before finally settling on a release date earlier this September. Three months later and here it is and I'm sure you could find far better ways to spend your Christmas money.

I admit, I love mindless comedies that don’t take themselves seriously, that don’t try be smarter than the intended audience or filled with so many twists. The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Old School, The Hangover, all these laugh-out loud films I’ll take any day over those so-called “smart comedies” where the writers try way too hard to show how intellectual and witty their film is. The Pool Boys, a mindless comedy where the main characters try and raise some extra cash by starting their own Beverly Hills escort service sounds exactly like my kind film. Laughs, tits and ass, what more could you want in a comedy? Unfortunately, The Pool Boys tries too hard to be funny. In fact, one has to wonder at times, “Where are the laughs?”
