Si Jenks and Bob Carney go to one of those colleges where there are no classes -- although there is one befuddled, elderly professor who shows up for thirty seconds -- but there is lots of dancing, ukulele-playing, upper class men tormenting freshmen, and competition over Sally Starr, who seems to be the only student less than 30 years old.
This seems to have been the popular view of college life until after the Second World War; if so, there's lots of reason to make fun of it, but it's done so blithely that it lacks any bite. The fellow sing "What A Day" and a nonsense song, which, I suppose, is the point of this short.

The plot for "All for Mabel" is about as unfunny as they come. Add to that the terrible one-liners and you have a recipe for a short that is hard to enjoy.
Bob and Si (Bob Carney and Si Wills) are college freshman. Bob is head over heels for a girl and the girl's amazon friend is head over heels for Si...whether he wants it or not! But there's a problem when Bob wants to date Mabel...there's a sociopathic giant of a man on campus who beats up everyone who is interested in her! Oddly, no one seems to think this is criminal behavior and ultimately, Bob and the giant have a showdown.
The story has no laughs and makes no sense....'nuff said.
