Turning Disney theme park attractions is a relatively new-ish concept, but the movies based on Disney attractions vary wildly in quality.
The story goes that Dick Cook, who at the time was running the Disney film studio with Nina Jacobson, had originally come up with the idea to “mine the theme parks for movie ideas” (as James B. Stewart put it in “Disney War”). They had made “The Country Bears” and were working on projects based on classic Disney attractions Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion. At the time, Pirates was envisioned as a direct-to-video cheapie, more along the lines of “Tower of Terror,” which debuted as an inexpensive TV on “The Wonderful World of Disney.”
But during a meeting about whether Disney should invest in “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” an expensive Peter Weir movie starring Russell Crowe (they declined), the idea was...

Will the promise of two new original series next year — based on decades-old toon franchises — help convince people to pay $5 per month for Boomerang’s subscription-video service?
That’s the question Boomerang, the cartoon subscription-streaming service from Turner and Warner Bros., is raising as the one-year-old venture tries to bulk up its direct-to-consumer rolls.
In 2019, Boomerang plans to premiere two new originals: “Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?,” in which the gang teams up with guest stars to solve mysteries, and “Flintstones” spinoff “Yabba-Dabba Dinosaurs!” Both series are being produced by Warner Bros. Animation.
Boomerang also has renewed several existing shows, including “The Tom and Jerry Show” and “Bunnicula,” and has licensed U.S. rights to a British adaptation of “The Wind in the Willows.” In addition, it’s beefing up its product features, adding a fully translated Spanish-language version and support for Android TV devices over Memorial Day weekend.

“We all have a past. Ghosts. They are the shadows that define our every sunny day…”
It's finally happening! Season four of Steven Moffat's Sherlock has started shooting! Benedict Cumberbatch recently completed shooting Doctor Strange for Marvel. He didn't waste any time before jumping right into his next project, and I couldn't be more excited!
The award-winning BBC drama will return with three brand-new episodes promising "laughter, tears, shocks, surprises and extraordinary cases..." Cumberbatch will obviously be joined by Martin Freeman who will reprise his role as Watson, and this is a little blurb about what we have to look forward too:
Series four begins with the nation’s favourite detective, the mercurial Sherlock Holmes, back once more on British soil, as Doctor Watson and his wife, Mary, prepare for their biggest ever challenge - becoming parents for the first time.
Cumberbatch told BBC that he was “genuinely thrilled...

From washer women to harlequins via milkmen, Alex looks back over the Doctor's penchant for disguise over the decades...
So, we've finally had our first glimpse of Peter Capaldi in his new Doctor Who costume. My personal opinion for the record: It's functional yet stylish and could be the basis of something more elaborate over time. Importantly though, it is a bold statement of exactly who this new Doctor is. Identity is important to the Doctor, whether developing his own or assuming that of another to defeat his opponents in his continuing quest to bring his own brand of humanity to the universe.
With that in mind, let's revisit our favourite Time Lord's ability to disguise himself in order to outwit his opponents. I should state at the outset this isn't a definitive list of every disguise the character has worn. Every Doctor has...

The newly independent DreamWorks is developing an adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's 1982 novel War Horse. Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Revel Guest are producing. British writer Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, The Wind in the Willows) will write the screenplay. The book tells the epic tale of a friendship between a boy and his horse, who become separated but continue to be intertwined as they try to survive the horrors of World War I. War Horse was also recently adapted for the stage, with UK runs at the National Theatre and New London Theatre. I'm sure it's a great story, but does anyone want to see this? "From the moment I read Michael Morpurgo's War Horse, I knew this was a film I wanted DreamWorks to make," Spielberg said. "Its heart and its message provide a story that can be felt in every country." A few weeks ago,...
