    One to watch!!!

Am a big fan of short films and certainly am one of those who is always on the lookout for ones to watch. The Fairy Who Stole Eyes is one such short. It is in the same category as Wasp, Talking With Angels, Ex-Memoria when it comes to excellence and originality from a director. Beautifully shot, this film and it is a film makes a lasting impression on the senses because after having watched it, the story and the emotional ride stays with you. I think the credit for that lies in a well written script, an original and different idea told as a cinematic story. Directors often fall foul of sacrificing the story telling just so that they can demonstrate visual style and of course keep the short within their running time limit and the pathetically small budgets or even no budgets. The actors deliver superb performances in particular the young child actor playing Ryan. His understated performance and convincing blindness would put many a seasoned actors to shame. This is a worthy short from a filmmaker with a voice who deserves to be championed.

Great Cinema in a short film.

I caught this short film at the 19th Foyle Film Festival last year and had wanted to comment on it but they had no official site or IMDb web page. Couple of weeks ago this short resurfaced in the form of a DVD on the desk of a friend and I watched it again. My opinion had not changed - this is a great short. Very cinematic and extremely watchable. There is no doubting that this first time director shows great talent and originality. A cast of unknown actors as is the case with a majority of short films; each of the performances were lovely. I have to give the young actor playing Ryan a special mention because he had me engrossed with his subtle performance. Another talent for the future, I think so. The story was quite original and did not resort to cliché traps and each of the characters was well written. I found the camera work to be beautiful and visual style engaging. The short is beautifully scored with music and songs. It would seem that the filmmaker and producers invested much to give us a great film in just 11 minutes.

    enticing

An extremely good debut from a talented writer / director who definitely has a good future in this industry.

Sensitively handled subject matter, without the need for too many words.

The actors were aptly chosen & their on-screen personalities shone.

The soundtrack was subtle and mysterious, and provided the perfect tone to the film.

I acquired a DVD & saw it at least 4 times, so mesmerised was I by the child actor's 'large' presence within the cuteness in his role.

    Loved it..

    an emotional roller coaster ride!

This is the very first short film I have watched and I really enjoyed it. The little boy made me cry and rejoice with him. even after so many days, the first scene of the mother and the child interacting stands out so very clearly in my head. it made me hate her; how could someone be so cruel to a boy! the film had all the essential elements of a great story! it so beautifully portrayed a child's loneliness, longing, hope and fears. They all acted so brilliantly well.

what really remains behind is the hope and fear of the last scene..new beginnings that are hinted at with the lighter music, and the fear in his last question...
