"The Resident" (2011)
Directed by Antti Jokinen
Released by Image Entertainment
This actually isn't the first time Hilary Swank has seen one of her films go direct to DVD after the films "Red Dust" and "Birds of America" suffered the same fate, but surely there was more riding on this horror film from the resurgent Hammer Films about a recently separated doctor who learns her Brooklyn loft isn't quite as wonderful as she thought it would be. "Secretary" screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson co-wrote this film, which co-stars Christopher Lee, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Lee Pace.
"The Mikado" (1939)
Directed by Victor Schertzinger
Released by Criterion Collection
"Topsy-Turvy" (1999)
Directed by Mike Leigh
Released by Criterion Collection
Sold separately, Criterion is making no secret of trying to appeal to Gilbert and Sullivan fanatics with special editions of "The Mikado," a straight-up adaptation of the musical duo's most famous opera, and Mike Leigh's "Topsy-Turvy,...

Bleeding Lady (aka Star Vehicle) confirms cult / horror director Ryan Nicholson (Hanger, Gutterballls) as the "king of cinematic sleaze"(cinesploitation) and serves up plenty of blood-splattering gore, nudity, and dark humor.
Bleeding Lady, which stars Dan Ellis, Sindy Faraguna and Nathan Durec, deals with Don. A chauffeur and a movie buff who takes his job seriously - very seriously. When his latest assignment takes him to the set of a low-budget horror film, he's overjoyed to learn he'll be driving Riversa Red - His favorite B-movie "Srceam Queen." While driving his beloved idol, Don assumes the role of bodyguard and turns fiercely protective, especially after learning that Riversa has a stalker. Hell-bent on protecting his queen and fueled by paranoid fantasies, Don's usual temper tantrums go to fatal extremes. Soon he proves to be not only Riversa's biggest fan, but her worst nightmare as well. As HorrorNews.net puts it,...

Director: Catherine Taylor.
Writer: Julianne White.
Vicious Circle Films will be releasing director Catherine Taylor's first picture, Temptation, to North American audiences June 29th and this Black Tower and Co-Operative Film production offers a fresh take on the vampire, horror genre. Also, this London shot film offers beautiful cinematography, while offering a uniquely feminine view of vampires, their powers, and their ability to blend in with London's nite life.
The film follows central character Isabel (Caroline Haines) after a nite of partying and in to the hands of a recently released serial rapist. Isabel's already bad day has already involved seeing her boyfriend cheating on her with another women and a brutal rape in a dark alley adds a sour note to a nite of socializing and excessive drinking with friends. “Don’t make it look like Pulse” was the mission statement behind Someone’S Knocking At The Door, according to actor/producer Noah Segan on Vicious Circle’s new DVD. And they certainly succeeded at that; Knocking has nothing in common with either Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s brooding supernatural drama or the terrible U.S. remake, though it does echo certain recent, more outrageous J-horror entries in its scenes of grotesquely distended genitalia.

Ryan Nicholson of Plotdigger Films gave Fango the first look at the DVD cover art for his extreme gruefest Hanger (pictured), now set to hit disc November 17 from the new Breaking Glass company on their Vicious Circle genre label. He also informed us of his plans for an official release of his underground Internet flick Torched, and passed on the art for that one as well.
Hanger stars Nathan Dashwood, Dan Ellis and Fangoria Radio’s Debbie Rochon and centers on the revenge for a botched abortion meted out by the grown-up object of that operation; we previously revealed the specs for the DVD here. Torched, previously available only on bootleg or edited discs, is fully restored on Plotdigger’s DVD, which comes out Nov. 24. The bloody saga of a nurse giving fiery payback to those who raped her will be presented in 16x9-enhanced widescreen with Dolby 5.1 Surround and 2.0 stereo soundtracks,...
