    Great Little Film

I saw this movie at a test screening last weekend. At the time it was missing some music but looked to be complete. I really don't think I've laughed harder at a film since Borat. The script was really focused and wrung every laugh out of each situation. The acting on the whole was pretty good, in a laid back sort of way. The standouts were Matt Okine, Kevin Spink and Adam Fawns. However, the movie is completely stolen by Christian McCarty as Tangles, possibly the most politically incorrect character I have seen in a long time. Some of his lines had me cringing, especially his exchange with Holly Willis. Overall, this is a great film, and a major achievement considering this seems to be a very low budget film (on par with Clerks). I really hope this gets a release because it is better than most Australian "comedies" that have been made in the last 15 years.

    Good Low Budget Movie

I saw this at a test the other day and I have to say despite it's very low budget, Sweet FA is pretty good. The focus of the movie seems to be less about plot and more about jokes but thankfully there is plenty of them to keep the momentum going. The actors are on the most part good, but then again the script by Michael Skelton doesn't call for Oscar worthy performances. Of the six main characters, Kevin Spink as Roxby and Christian McCarty as Tangles shine. Spink seems to bring a depth to his character and Tangles is the quintessential likable idiot character on par with the likes of Stifler, although you ask yourself at about the 20 minute mark why these guys would bother being his friends. The supporting cast also holds a few standouts, particularly Adam Fawns as Witold and Gary Mitchell as the cop, Sgt Dinto. These two characters are in it not quite enough, I would have liked to see them in more scenes. Obviously, the film has some limitations due to its budget, but it appears the entire cast is having a good time in the film and overall I think the film achieves what it has set out to do- give the audience a good time.

    • Trivia
Since the budget was so low, it was decided early in pre production that the crew would all act in the film to save getting actors in. On most shoot days, it was not uncommon for some crew members to have to run into a scene after operating some equipment.
