This film is a travesty. I don't even understand why they decided to term this a zombie movie. The 'things' in this film were as similar to zombies as I am.
Everything about this film was awful. The acting was just shocking. The effects were painfully bad. The story was a joke and the dialogue...What can I say about the dialogue..words fail me, they really do.
Im usually a huge fan of low budget horror but this was beyond the pale.
If you are a fan of zombie films stay away from this terrible film. Its a disgrace to the genre.

I'm one of the zombies movie's lover, and I've watch every zombie movies I could find out. And most of it, it's good. But this? This is a total crap. Everything in this movie is a waste. Bad script, bad acting (never saw anyone that's stupid enough to let some guys (zombies, if you could call it zombies) put a bomb in his laps, and just stare at it, as it is just a toy or a girl who looks very ready to scream her guts out when something approach her), bad make-up (the zombies look like a man who got a gray paint all over himself), bad music (using some kind of rock music, didn't really up the heat of this movie), and even bad plot (never seen a zombie who wants revenge only.) Overall, don't even watch it on DVD, except if you find the movie just lying around at a street corner. Not even worth your time, I should say.

This is a fascinating film. Don't get me wrong, it is not a good film. "Actors" are bad; Don "The Dragon" Wilson is Laurence Olivier compared to them. Direction, photography and editing are embarrassing. Fight scenes make circus clowns' jokes look like K1. The handgun, the German WW2 rifle and the grenade explosion all sound the same, let's say like a air gun. You can see "wounds" (be it gunshots or bites) are just a ridiculous splash of ketchup. I mean it is so bad, usually I wouldn't give it 3 minutes of my time since it's trash. Still... Not only I watched it, but I enjoyed it. The script is partially pretty good and, given better film crew and more money, the film could have been much better. The jokes are priceless! Dialogues are very good at times. All the women in the film are very beautiful starting with Camille Djokoto (agent Conda). "War of the Dead" is fascinating because it is very bad, still makes you wanna see what happens next and provides great fun both from the jokes and the terrible acting and direction. You even get to like the characters, if not from the way the script shaped them, at least from what you know they should have been and also from the clumsiness of the actors. (As for acting, I think Scott Cengija, the little Billy, was the best, while Rosemary Martins, Max's nurse, was really horrible and should not appear on screen again.) Let's just say if you're a film critic or a film snub, you'll hate this movie, won't watch it and think people who had fun at it don't know *beep* about movies. But if you just love plain cinema and zombie flicks, "War of the Dead" might give you 88 minutes of fun in a rainy afternoon.

Sounds good, it really isn't.
Another zombie film which just has you asking two questions, the first, why did they bother making it? The second, why did I bother to watch it through to the end? The answers, well only those involved in the project and the almighty himself knows the answer to the first, the second, well I would have felt guilty reviewing a film which I hadn't seen in its entirety, and having just watched 'war of the dead' for the full 90 minutes I now appreciate how terrible an eternity in purgatory could be.
...
Overall, the story was a good enough idea, but the film was pretty poor. I'm a fan of low budget films but it always amazes me that people aren't able to realise the scope of their projects. Bottom line is, if you haven't got the budget for decent makeup or gore; don't bother making a zombie film. This is truly the case with 'War of the Dead' it had reasonable potential with its story, but was seriously below par on delivery and clearly on resources.

This is really unwatchable. The acting is generally stiff and the budget is obviously very very very low, like $15 for the special effects budget low. There's really no point in watching this it's utter garbage on a lot of levels. One of the scenes features Germans planting a grenade but the grenade shown is an American frag grenade- it was ridiculous. There are some funny moments but this is like watching someone's home movie movie as far as cinematic quality of editing and stunts. Avoid this waste of time at all costs unless you want to see what someone did with 38 dollars and a video camera. Making something this crappy and masquerading it as a film should be illegal. PLOT: Zombie Nazis are looking for their victims - what connects them to each other? Poor acting and worse stunts ensue.

I don't know how this actually got released. I do realize that there probably were intentional jokes in this but it is hard to tell. I saw this movie at two video stores here in the Cowichan Valley, BC! So congratulations for that. To the maker of this film: I do admire your ability to "produce a film" fast plus make many copies of it on a professional looking DVD and make a good cover for the DVD. It's great to see someone making horror movies from Canada also. But thankfully you posed this film as if it were American (Washington, U.S.A. not Ontario, Canada.) That was the saving grace of the DVD because I'm Canadian. It was also a relief to see that the Canadian government didn't give money to help this get made. Use your strengths to release DVD's to video stores, but please have all different cast and crew make the film itself.

First off, I am a guy who needs to own every zombie movie out there, so I'm not the most unbiased person out there. I saw War of the Dead at the video store and was expecting a rip-off of any "of-the-Dead" movie out there. What I discovered was one of the most fun, campiest movies I have ever seen! The story concerns a group of Nazi zombie soldiers who are hunting down the old war vets that killed them in the war. Right off the bat, you know it's not Citizen Kane. The zombies attack with a vengeance - they stick a grenade in some old guy's mouth, they bomb an old guy at a nursing home, and they use their sense of smell to hunt down the others. There are some boring flashback scenes to explain the FBI agent's past, but overall it's a great zombie flick. As any self-respecting zombie movie should, this has no budget. Even the zombie make-up is pretty nasty. Anyway, the cast is great (as far as zombie movies go), and the old people are freakin' hilarious.

I can only repeat other comments that it is bad as a horror movie- terrible acting, stupid (better say 0) special effects, interesting but rather dumb plot, but it kicks ass!!! The great thing about this movie is that as it sometimes can be with small budget (100 bucks budget) movies they are really good as parody of the gender. I was laughing my head off watching this movie and thinking how really stupid the film makers were to make this and tell me that it is a horror movie. They could just tell that it is parody/comedy and that all- it is great to watch actors (craptors) and producents trying to make the movie serious when it's not. Even the music- some guy in the background probably playing electric guitar and even before zombie attacks the music stops giving all of it away. If this would be big budget movie than it would be soooo bad. But for this kind of budget it really can't be good being as it is advertised- horror movie. But it is stupidly funny- I love small budget sci-fi, horror movies with rating 2-3 on IMDb!
