Wacaday was a children's morning television programme that ran for some time but not long enough. Timmy Mallett had a large foam mallet called Mallett's mallet with which he played a game called Mallett's Mallett which was a word association game between 2 people. You mustn't pause, hesitate or repeat a word or say a word Timmy doesn't like or you will get a bash on the head with the mallett. The one with the most bruises loses, the one with the least bruises gets the utterly brilliant prize. Timmy would get the 2 contestants to look at each other and go "blaaa," then look at the audience and go "blaaa." Then battle would commence.
Timmy had a budgerigar called "magic." At the start of each show, Magic would hold a magic word and if it was spoken during the show, that person would win a prize.
Michaela Strachan would appear on the show as well and sing. Timmy Mallett would then announce it's fingers in your ears time.
Timmy would visit places like the Blarney stone in Ireland and kiss it, the Berlin wall and call it the Blaalin wall. Viewers would send in new glasses for him to wear. It was all going well until..........
Mallett's mallett spawned "Pinky Punky." This was a small mallett with pink hair style. He has a face and used to attempt to put Timmy off his stride by saying "Mr Mallett, Mr Mallett, my mom says you've got nobbly knees." Timmy ever the professional would be charming to Pinky Punky and treated him like a son.
Timmy liked his Bermuda shorts and funky glasses and everything was "utterly brilliant." His desire for smiling and happiness is something lost on today;s television. Bravo a childrens television icon.
