Bird Box is easily one of the most significant films in Netflix’s history. With its excellent cast full of actors like Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson, and even Machine Gun Kelly, the record-breaking film became a cultural phenomenon upon its release.

One would assume, considering its success, that everyone on the project had the time of their lives when they were making the film. However, it would seem that one part of the production was tirelessly unrewarding.

Even though the movie’s soundtrack was made by two members of the legendary band Nine Inch Nails, the experience was very frustrating for the two musicians.

A movie is a lot more than the actors that star in it. Several important aspects of production can be the difference between a memorable and a forgettable project.

“Donald Trump said he hasn’t seen The Apprentice — because it’s a 15 [British film rating]. It’s not on Nickelodeon,” Tennant continued before joking he had said Trump’s name three times. “It’s like Beetlejuice – I’ve summoned him.”

He followed up with: “Speaking of villains…” which drew much laughter and applause from the crowd.

The BBC broadcast of the ceremony later in the evening, which is always a shorter, edited version of the BAFTAs, included the hair and villains...

When the TV series based on the popular video game franchise Twisted Metal made its premiere on the Peacock streaming service back in July of 2023, it quickly became one of Peacock’s top five original series, racking up 400 million viewing minutes in its first weekend and earning the honor of being the streamer’s “most-binged” premiere. Based on an original take by Deadpool and Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, this adaptation of the Twisted Metal franchise centers on a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, Jesse Eisenberg, Joe Alwyn, Isabella Rossellini, Colman Domingo and Ralph Fiennes are among the presenters set for the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards.

Notably missing from the attendees list was Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón, whose awards campaign has catastrophically imploded following the discovery of controversial posts made on her X (previously Twitter) account. The star — the first trans actor to be nominated for an Oscar — has apologized, though tensions are said to be high between Gascón and streamer Netflix for hindering the film’s Oscar hopes. She has now been phased out of its awards campaign entirely.

The British Academy confirmed the guest and presenter lineup ahead of the prestigious ceremony Sunday, Feb. 16 at London’s Royal Festival Hall.

ITV Exploring ‘Extreme Planet Earth’ In Series From Plimsoll

Tiny World producer Plimsoll is making an extreme natural history series for ITV. Extreme Planet Earth will see “underscore the high-stakes battle for wildlife survival in an era of extreme weather, wildfires and environmental upheaval,” according to the commercial net. The series will travel to see elephants in Borneo navigating treacherous floodwaters, wombats in Australia with fires raging around them, a leopard in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi struggling with a brutal drought and Caribbean flamingos in Mexico facing up to the earliest Category 5 hurricane on record. Plimsoll already made A Year on Planet Earth for ITV and is owned by ITV Studios. ITV doesn’t dabble often in natural history but often opts for landmarks when it does. Since Star Trek: The Next Generation took off in 1987, there hasn't been a Star Trek series that hasn't had some type of connection to The Original Series, even if it was by a thin thread. Star Trek: The Next Generation was for the new crew aboard the Enterprise, which was the orginal starship. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was connected to The Next Generation through Chief O'Brien and the Battle of Wolf 359, which killed Commander Sisko's wife, Jennifer. Captain Jean-Luc Picard had been assimilated by the Borg at the time and was involved in the death of over eleven thousand people. The bond was strengthened when Lt. Commander Worf came to Deep Space Nine.

Star Trek: Voyager crew members visited Quark's Bar on Deep Space Nine before their voyage began, and Reginald Barclay, who had served aboard the Enterprise on The Next Generation, showed up in several episodes as did Counselor Deanna Troi.

Star Trek: Picard was a bit of an up-and-down mess over its three-season run. A turnstile of showrunners, tonal shifts between seasons, and a blatant disregard for its own conceptual premise all led to the show being a mixed bag at best, or a failure at worst. The lone idea that came out of the series was one involving a potential spinoff, dubbed with love as 'Star Trek: Legacy'.

The show would follow Jean-Luc Picard's son, some of the new cast members from the third season of Picard and a few returning legacy characters, namely Seven of Nine. It was a solid idea when it was pitched, and even though the final Picard showrunner, Terry Matalas, really wanted to make the show, Paramount basically buried the project.

British boyband Take That and Wicked‘s Jeff Goldblum are set to perform live at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards.

Take That, comprising of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, will take to the stage on Sunday, Feb. 16 and perform their number one single “Greatest Day”, which famously opened Sean Baker’s nominated hit Anora.

Goldblum, meanwhile, star of Wicked, will perform on the piano during the In Memoriam section of the ceremony. After announcing their 2025 tour was delayed due to the rapid forest fires spreading across Los Angeles, rock band Nine Inch Nails shared the new dates for their Peel It Back tour 2025 this week.

This is the band’s first live performance run since 2022. The tour is slated to kick off on June 15 in Dublin, Ireland, and the band will continue to play across Europe until mid-July when they come to the US.

The North American leg of their tour will start in Oakland, California, on Aug. 3. They will play in cities including Toronto, Boston, Nashville, Houston and Tampa, among many others, before concluding in Los Angeles on Sept. 18.

Nine Inch Nails have finally unveiled the dates for their 2025 tour. Peel It Back will run from June through September.

Nin’s tour announcement previously got off to a rocky start when venues prematurely posted Facebook events for some of the dates. Fans began to share screenshots and noted on-sale dates in a Ticketmaster listing as well. The band then put out a statement confirming that they would be embarking on a world tour this summer, but that further details would be delayed due to the fires in LA.

The rock band announced its Peel It Back Tour 2025 on Wednesday and it’s their first live outing since 2022. Produced by Live Nation, it will kick off June 15 in Dublin and the band will play shows throughout Europe, including stops in the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland. The European leg will also feature festival appearances at Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium, Open’er in Gdynia, Poland, and Mad Cool in Madrid, Spain.

The North American leg of the tour will launch on Aug. 6 in Oakland. The band will also headline arenas in Portland, Vancouver, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn, Nashville and Houston. The tour will wrap on Sept. 18 in Los Angeles. Tickets go on sale Jan. 29.

It's a little wild to think about how little Alison Pill's Agnes Jurati factored into the show's final season. She didn't appear at all as a character and her impact in the prior seasons was essentially erased from the timeline. She became the Borg Queen. It wasn't a good storyline to get her there, sure. She also looked awful in her full 'Borg Queen outfit' to boot.

That CGI was rough, but still. She was the Borg Queen. Yet, despite season three being about the original Borg Queen's character returning, you'd think there'd be some kind of showdown between the two. Not only did that not happen, but Jurati wasn't even mentioned it felt like. Her character made no impact on the final storyline, even though it was ripe with possibility.

Luca Guadagnino released two films in 2024, and coming off the energetic “Challengers” was the more introspective “Queer.” The filmmaker’s latest stars Daniel Craig as William Lee, a fictionalized stand-in for author William S. Burroughs, whose slender novel the movie is based on.

The movie premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and later played the New York Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival. A24 acquired the domestic distribution rights to the movie, with Mubi releasing the movie internationally.

Is “Queer” streaming?

After being released in theaters last November and December, “Queer” is now finally available to rent on Digital. The film will eventually be streaming on Max due to an output deal between the streamer and A24, but a streaming release date has not yet been revealed. “Queer” will also be released on Blu-ray in April.

The winter break is now officially in full swing. The broadcast shows are on their breaks, and some for a few months. The good news is that some shows will be back early in the new year.

There’s a great mixture of returning and new dramas and comedies in January 2025. Happy’s Place and Lopez vs. Lopez kicks things off in early January on NBC, and then the end of the month will see the return of most of the CBS dramas.

ABC is a bit of a mixed bag. While some dramas will either start or return in January 2025, we’ll have to wait until March for the return of Tgit. However, there are some reality shows and game shows to look forward to while we wait. Now you just need to decide what you want to watch.

Perhaps one of the most unexpected yet perfect relationships in Hollywood was the one the late legendary Robin Williams shared with the late and equally legendary Christopher Reeve. “Nickel Boys” leads the nominations at the 25th annual Black Reel Awards, a ceremony exclusively dedicated to recognizing African American contributions to cinema.

The Amazon MGM Studios film garnered 13 nominations, followed closely by Netflix’s “The Piano Lesson” with 12; both films were nominated for outstanding film and outstanding director, plus their stars earned individual nods.

Ice Nine Kills have announced a Spring 2025 headlining US tour surrounding their previously announced dates supporting Metallica.

The “The Silver Scream-a-Thon” headlining tour will see Ice Nine Kills performing 2018’s The Silver Scream and its 2021 sequel The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood in their entireties over two nights in each city, along with some deep cuts and new material. The headlining shows kick off April 30th and May 1st in Raleigh, North Carolina, and run through June 11th and 12th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Any “Twin Peaks” fan worth their garmonbozia knows Episode 8 of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s revival season “The Return,” from 2017, is the visual and thematic standout. The first trailer for the third season of acclaimed adult animated series, Invincible, is expected to debut during Ccxp at some point tomorrow, but Prime Video mistakenly shared it on the streaming site a little early.

The teaser was quickly taken down, but not before some audio and quite a few high-quality screenshots were posted online.

Like yesterday's poster, it looks like the trailer is going to give away quite a few major plot points, including the fact that Mark Grayson and Cecil Steamman ultimately become enemies after some particularly shady dealings from the latter.

None of this will come as a surprise to anyone who's read the comics, but just in case, here's a spoiler warning.

Featuring a rousing, sample-heavy score inspired by the style of William S. Burroughs (the author of the original Queer novel), Reznor and Ross’ score adds depth and color to the Daniel Craig-starring film, capped off with the original song “Vaster Than Empires,” featuring Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso.

Throughout the score’s 16 tracks, the duo develops tension with layers of texture and refraining melodies, utilizing samples, pianos, synths, orchestral instruments and more. Stream it below.

Terrifier 3 being one of the biggest hits of 2024 may come as a surprise to some as it is not a long-established franchise or a movie with a budget in the hundreds of millions. Instead, it is a smaller budget production that is part of a franchise that had a rocky start. Terrifier 3 was a massive success at the box office, and its critical reception was also positive with a 77% critic score and 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Terrifier started as a small-budget movie that was known more for its deaths and iconic killer, Art the Clown than it is for its plot. Over the years, the franchise has grown and garnered a dedicated fan base and put other franchises to shame with the amount of money it earned compared to its more than reasonable budget. Terrifier 3's cliffhanger ending teases a fourth film, which initially seems like it will be the last.
