    Letter about truth

Beautiful, sad, spring day, delicate song, lesson about friendship and basic solutions. Film of emotions, remembers and way to discover the sense of small facts, may be mellow or boring but it is more that.Kostja Ulmann is an precise Luca. Fragile and in self definition. The images are parts of his expectation. The competition and the relation with Roderick, the fight against every shadow and the final concerto are words of a letter who describes forms of truth. "Die Zeit, die man Leben nennt" is not a great film. It is only invitation to understand the life as slow river. Show about heavy ambitions and escapes, abdications and fruits of love. Must see! I think so.

    special

it is not easy to say why. maybe, because it is a story with deep roots in everybody existence. or a beautiful eulogy about passion and the courage to survive to yourself. maybe as life lesson. or as delicate poem about music and about competition, about fall and about hope. but, the basic motif could be Kostja Ullmann himself. not only for the impeccable performance but for the wise exploration of the nuances of his Luca. for inspired use of silence. for a story who could be a pledge for many motivational speeches. but it remains a lovely, convincing and touching remind of the force of vulnerability.

    Beautifully crafted

Having watched this film a few times, I find the same sense of sadness yet ultimately optimism hits you every time. It is a beautifully crafted little gem telling it's story with humour, pathos and above all hope. Well worth the effort to watch. I have watched it in the original and even as a non German speaker, the story comes through. It makes an interesting counterpoint piece to 'Inside I'm Dancing'. The acting is high quality, the photography clear and no effort is made to patronise the audience, nor does it overstate the emotional range it covers. It is full of well known young actors whose faces will be familiar to many. Worth spending an evening on anytime.

Roderick: [outside, after seing Luca's confrontation with his father, being behind Luca] I'm sorry Luca. I know that sometimes I'm an asshole. I know that talking is not your thing but right now you surely could say something. Hm?

      [taps Luca on the shoulder]

      Roderick: Hey.

Luca: [takes off his earphones] What?

Roderick: I said that sometimes I am an asshole.

Luca: Sometimes? You are always an asshole.

Roderick: Yes, but not on purpose.
