Yes. Sacha Sacket performs his own song "Sweet Suicide" from his 2004 CD "Shadowed." The version in the film was an accoustic version recorded live during the film. The same song repeats during the closing credit scroll, and is the previously recorded version from the CD.
Yes. Henry & Wanda's is located at 501 Sixth Street in Racine, WI. At the time of filming it was owned by Roberta Schulz and Jeannie Dillon, who named the bar after the lead characters in the film "Bar Fly." Two months after filming completed, they sold the bar, which remains in the same location. However, Schulz and Dillon re-opened Out of the Pan 5 blocks away at 550 State Street in Racine, WI.
Depending on the pictures you've seen, yes and no. There is a scene in which Judith O'Dea's character "Emily Hamilton" goes on a drunken rant at Henry & Wanda's. However, H&W owner Jeannie Dillon DID give free martinis to the cast and crew while scenes were being filmed, and some cast/crew members took much advantage of the offer.
Not during filming. Director Jason Paul Collum's father, David Collum, passed away March 1, 2006 as the screenplay for NOVEMBER SON was being written. His actual obituary is held up by Darcey Vanderhoef's character "Maggie" when she brings "Eli" home from a night of drinking.
Jason's grandmother, Vinnie Campeau, passed away 3 weeks prior to filming, on June 7, 2006.
To a degree, yes. Much like the original film OCTOBER MOON, some characters and situations are based on personal experiences, but there was no bloodshed or horror mayhem in real-life.
Yes. The original script called for Brinke Stevens' character "Nancy" to be attacked in a graveyard. When director Collum was shown the faux coffin prior to filming, he redesigned the entire scene to take place in a nearby pond in under 2 minutes, but took 3 hours to film.
The 3 story mansion, seen in both NOVEMBER SON and OCTOBER MOON, is now sectioned off into apartments and was built by a famous family. The Miller Family, of Miller Beer, built the house in the late 1800s, reportedly as a wedding gift to one of their daughters. In the 1920s, an epidemic swept through the city of Racine, and with the lone hospital overflowing, the Miller family opened the home to ill people, many of whom reportedly died while there. Reports of hauntings have surrounded the location ever since.
