This film was intended as a wide theatrical release; however, the film tested poorly and studio executives then considered going direct-to-DVD as a result. Ultimately the studio decided to give it a limited theatrical release in Texas (the home state of Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson) in an attempt to generate interest and more accurately assess the film's box-office potential. After the film grossed only 1,190 dollars on eight screens, the studio decided not to expand the limited theatrical release any further.
The movie became a hit in the Ukraine, grossing more than two hundred fifty-three thousand dollars in its opening weekend.
The movie became a success in Russia and Philippines.
Since the movie's DVD release date it has grossed $11.56 million in the United States.
