Filming begins in London; Rocket Science to launch sales at Cannes Pre-Screenings next week.

SAG award-winner Alex Sharp and The Souvenir star Tom Burke have joined the cast of Oliver Hermanus’ Living, which the UK’s Number 9 Films has begun shooting with Bill Nighy.

London-based Rocket Science is handling international sales and will be introducing the project to buyers at the Cannes Pre-Screenings next week. A first look image of Nighy has been released and can be seen above.

Actor Priyanshu Painyuli learnt the Kutchi language from the locals during the shoot of the upcoming film Rashmi Rocket in Rann of Kutch, and says it was fun to pick up something new.

"I have shot for ‘Extraction' in Ahmedabad before but Kutchi is a whole new dialect that sounds like a new language altogether. I was intrigued and then talking to friends from the local crew, I thought of it as a great chance to pick up something new," Priyanshu said.

"I am an army kid, so moving places, moving cities, learning new things has always been a way of life. It's ingrained in me. I never leave an opportunity for a new learning. I am so glad I am here and I hope by the team we leave I have learned at least the basic pleasantry," he added.

Sports drama “Rashmi Rocket” starring the fierce Taapsee Pannu commences shoot this November.

Beginning in the salt pans of Kutch, Rashmi Rocket is about a young girl from a village, blessed with a gift - Speed. She's an incredibly fast runner. The village fondly knows her as “Rocket”. When she gets a chance to showcase her talent professionally, she excels but also realizes that the race to the finish line is peppered with many hurdles, and what seems like an athletic contest turns into her personal battle for respect, honour, and even her very identity.

Maybe Movies’ “Zombillenium” and ”Champions,” from Spain’s Morena and Películas Pendelton, feature among 90 series lined up to participate at this year’s Cartoon Forum which is scheduled to take place on site in France’s Toulouse over Sept. 14-17.

France’s Maybe Movies, producers of “Calamity,” this year’s Annecy Cristal best feature winner, along with 2 Minutes will adapt “Zombillenium,” a 2017 feature directed by Arthur de Pins and Alexis Ducord. The series will unspool in a creepy theme park whose employees are all actual monsters.

The “Champions” series is another spin off, this time from Javier Fesser’s same-titled live-action feature “Champions,” a local box office smash hit and Spain’s 2019 Academy Award submission. It turned on a basketball team of adult players with intellectual disabilities. The series will follow a group of kids with various levels of disability as they go to class and face growing up.

Robert Downey Jr. is a beloved actor, especially in this generation for his portrayal of Iron Man, aka Tony Stark. There is no doubt that pop culture loves cute infantile things on-screen. You know what makes it better? America Lost And Found: The Bbs Story (Criterion) Perhaps the best DVD box set released this year, this ultimate cinefile stocking stuffer offered up by Criterion, the Rolls-Royce of home video labels, features seven seminal works from the late ‘60s-early ‘70s that were brought to life by cutting edge producers Bert Schneider, Steve Blauner and director/producer Bob Rafelson, the principals of Bbs Productions. In chronological order: Head (1968) star the Monkees, the manufactured (by Rafelson, et al), American answer to the Beatles who, like it or not, did make an impact on popular culture, particularly in this utterly surreal piece of cinematic anarchy (co-written by Jack Nicholson, who has a cameo), which was largely dismissed upon its initial release, but is now regarded as a counterculture classic. Easy Rider (1969) is arguably regarded as the seminal ‘60s picture, about two hippie drug dealers (director Dennis Hopper...
