Girl Boss-Crazy Ball Game

This film essentially starts with a woman named "Mina" (Ryoko Ema) from the all-female gang of the Orchid Girl's Academy of Osaka issuing a fighting challenge to another woman named "Kyoko Maki" (Yuno Kano) who represents the Blood Cherry Blossom Gang from Kobe named "Kyoko Maki" (Yuko Kano). It's during this duel that Mina pulls out a knife but--rather than killing Kyoko as she initially intended-- has her own face terribly scarred instead. It's at this time that the police arrive and arrest Kyoko who then spends 2 years in juvenile detention. However, after these two years have passed she is released and heads back to Osaka where her old gang had settled. Unfortunately, things haven't been the same since she left and as a result she begins to rebuild the old gang one person at a time. Needless to say, those in the Orchid Girl's Academy-and especially Mina-don't especially like the idea of a newly rejuvenated gang muscling in on their territory and conspire with a Yakuza organization called the Tachibana Corporation to break them up anyway they can. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that I am not sure what the reference to a ball game in the title is all about as there wasn't anything like that anywhere in the film. At least, none that I was aware of. In any case, this movie turned out to be a pretty good addition to the Pinku Eiga sub-genre as it incorporated some decent action with some fairly good drama. Likewise, having a couple of attractive actresses like Emi Jo (as "Hiroko") and the aforementioned Yuko Kano certainly didn't hurt this film either. Be that as it may, I liked this particular movie and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly above average.
