Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale in The Fighter (2010)

FAQ

The Fighter

FAQ

The Fighter is a biopic about the life of junior welterweight professional boxer "Irish" Micky Ward from Lowell, Massachusetts. The screenplay was written by screenwriters Scott Silver, Paul Tamasy, and Eric Johnson. There is a book based on Micky Ward's life and career: Irish Thunder: The Hard Life And Times Of Micky Ward (2010).

An HBO documentary film crew did follow the real Dicky Eklund. While the title of the documentary in the film is Crack in America the real title was High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell (1995). Unlike the depiction in The Fighter, the real documentary followed two additional crack addicts from Lowell, Massachusetts in addition to Eklund. One of them, Boo Boo, is also depicted in the film.

"How You Like Me Now?" by The Heavy.
