In early 2021, Megan Ellison emerged from a self-imposed Hollywood exile and did something she hadn’t done in over a year: She signed on to back a movie, Nimona. There was a time when this would not have been remarkable, when Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures was producing five films a year and she was considered the industry’s own Medici, the premier patron of prestige cinema. But Ellison had backed away from Hollywood in 2019 after a series of missteps and become elusive even to some of her own executives. When her former distribution chief, Erik Lomis, asked her whether she wanted to look at some reels of Nimona, which was about to get axed in Disney’s closure of Blue Sky Animation, “I wasn’t really engaging in new film projects at the time,” Ellison said, answering THR’s questions by email. “But being curious, I said yes.”

Katy Perry partied the night away with music's best and the brightest at her pre-Grammys celebration, The Creators Party presented by Spotify, over the weekend - with one special guest by her side. A source tells People that Orlando Bloom attended Perry's party. "It's really sweet," a source inside the event says. "The party is for music producers and artists only but Orlando showed up a bit later and they're together." Held at Los Angeles' Cicada restaurant, the art deco-themed party welcomed past and present Grammy nominees together with up-and-coming acts, producers and songwriters to celebrate Monday's Grammy awards. There's a four-year hole on the actor's IMDb page after Walk The Line. But rather than playing games, he's given himself the freedom to make more interesting movies
Around halfway through I'm Still Here, the 2010 documentary chronicling Joaquin Phoenix's short-lived rap career and apparent retirement from acting, he undertakes a shambolic press junket, snapping when a journalist asks if it's all a hoax. "It's hard not to get offended, because you're talking about my life," barks Phoenix. "As if my life's a fuckin' joke to you."
It's moderately disconcerting, having recently watched that sequence, to be here in a hotel suite with Phoenix, another journalist talking about his life. When I enter the room, though, he's standing. His hair long from filming Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice, he's seemingly ego-free, loose and engaged, joking around from the off. Throughout the interview there's never a sense that he's humouring me,...

Last Friday, June 22nd, this writer hit the set of Josh C. Waller’s then-shooting action/horror feature Raze and while there chatted with the flick’s writer and co-producer Robert Beaucage as well as two of the film’s stars, Zoe Bell and Tracie Thoms.
Our second visit to Raze (we spent some time on set last year when it was envisioned as a web series and was shooting in South L.A.; watch our interview with Zoe Bell, Rachel Nichols and Josh C. Waller here) took place at Illusion Industries in Burbank, California. This time we found the project has grown into a feature length film, following the pre-sales it garnered at Cannes, and the addition of Quincy Studios, which has paired with Cosmic Toast Studios on the production.
Shooting Day 15 of 2012 principal photography on the Red Epic, Raze’s total shooting schedule has grown as well to 36 days,...

Writer/Director: Robert Beaucage
Cast: Sarah Livingston Evans, Jared Edwards, Anna-Marie Wayne, Nancy P. Corbo, Edward Gusts
Chaos Productions
"Spike" starts, as horror films often do, with a car crash along a rural road at night. But this particular car crash is no accident. Two couples traveling to an unnamed destination are halted by what looks like a steam punk accessory. No one is seriously injured in the accident, but after the lone dude goes to check out the tire damage, an unseen assailant attacks him. The gothic spikes he found in the tire are now sticking out of his throat and he's bleeding out fast. The three remaining girls go into panic mode and try to figure out how to save their friend and just what the hell is going on.
The situation escalates quickly. Naturally, there is no cell phone reception and the Evil Dead cam is stalking them.

It's time to see if your shorts and features made the cut - Shriekfest 2009, which runs October 1st-4th, 2009, has released the titles of those films that have made its 2009 Finalists list.
The judges must be busy with the long list of titles that have made it thus far. Included among them is a short film from some of our very own, "Thirsty", directed by Andrew Kasch, written by Joe Knetter, screenplay by David Rosiak, shot by Buz Wallick, and starring Joe Lynch and Tiffany Shepis. I've seen the film and it's a riot; let's hope the judges agree!
Here's the rundown of the features that are Finalists:
"Dark House"
directed by Darin Scott
"Dawning"
directed by Gregg Holtgrewe
"Evil Angel"
directed by Richard Dutcher
"Evilution"
directed by Chris Conlee
