Imagine jumping on a road trip across an unsettling version of America with an eccentric group of new companions. Each has their own superhuman ability known as “vox” and a mysterious past. You’ll travel from coast to coast, facing dangers around every turn, all while deciding how to build these relationships and impact the journey’s unfolding story. That’s the premise of Dustborn, an engaging narrative adventure from Red Thread Games.
Set in a world where history diverged after JFK’s assassination, Dustborn casts players as Pax, a smuggler transporting a secret cargo to freedom in Canada. To avoid detection, your crew poses as a punk band touring the troubled country. Through conversations and quick reflexes, you’ll steer Pax and the group on their journey. Dialog choices shape characters’ arcs and later scenes, with careful decisions carrying long-term consequences.
Between interactions, combat briefly interrupts with a simple but stylish fighting system.

Black Country Communion — the supergroup made up of acclaimed musicians Joe Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, and Derek Sherinian — have announced their fifth studio album, aptly titled V. Ahead of its June 14th release, the band has released the lead single, “Stay Free.”
The upcoming LP marks Black Country Communion’s first album in seven years, following 2017’s Bcciv. It was produced by Kevin Shirley, who has helmed all five of the the band’s albums.
Shirley stated, “For a band that started out as a collection of the best practitioners of their instruments, they very quickly found a unique sound. This time around, it has more purpose, the riffs are tougher, and there are hooks! Yes, hooks! It’s the most cohesive record, full of soul and grit, and I think this is the one that’s going to be the benchmark for Black Country Communion.”

As we now know, Quentin Tarantino's movies are all set in the same fantastical cinematic universe, offering a glimpse inside the director's head. Like in the real world, anybody can die at any time in various nasty ways, but at least in the Tarantino-verse your killer will probably be jiving to some obscure '70s pop tune or engaging you in a little banter about hamburgers before pulling the trigger. It's a rich, colorful, dangerous place, laden with pop culture references, and also has a second universe within a universe. As Tarantino explained (via Esquire):
"There's the realer than real universe, alright, and all the characters inhabit that one. But then there's this movie universe. And so 'From Dusk Till Dawn,' 'Kill Bill,' they all take place in this special movie universe. So basically when the characters of 'Reservoir Dogs' or 'Pulp Fiction,'...

Liam Neeson’s thriller “Honest Thief” repeated as the winner of a subdued domestic box office with $2.4 million at 2,502 locations.
The Open Road release declined 44% from its opening frame and has taken in $7.5 million in its first 10 days in North America. The distributor added screens in New York state following New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s decision to give movie theaters outside of New York City permission to reopen at reduced capacity starting on Oct. 23.
Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Open Road said: “Our belief was that releasing a crowd-pleaser of a film, like ‘Honest Thief,’ at this point in time, would generate the positive word-of-mouth necessary to successfully propel the film for many weeks. Back to back weeks at number 1, confirms that belief.”
The “Honest Thief” number is one of the lowest-winning weekend totals in theaters during the past two months, but Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for Comscore, said...

It’s been 17 long years since “Rules of Attraction” director Roger Avary has released a film, during which time he was involved in a deadly car crash, charged with gross vehicle manslaughter, saw a work furlough translated into actual prison time, and watched things go south with Video Archives amigo Quentin Tarantino over the “Pulp Fiction” credit fiasco. Those are setbacks that might break the spine of a lesser scribe, but in Avary’s case, it seems to have strengthened his resolve to write — although until now, virtually nothing has been produced to show for it. Not for lack of trying. Some people are good at directing movies, and others are good at getting movies to direct. Avary hustled a number of projects, and somehow, “Lucky Day” was the first to get made.
The movie marks a curious comeback, . Where Avary’s other films have innovated and unsettled, this one’s clever but safe,...

If you were thinking of attending this year’s annual Labor Day weekend cinephile celebration high in the Rocky Mountains, it’s too late. Coveted passes to the 46th Telluride Film Festival sold out months ago, and the Los Angeles charter flights to Montrose, Colorado are booked.
Every year the Telluride Film Festival welcomes a new round of filmmakers and cinephiles seeking mutual satisfaction. And it marks the real start of the Oscar conversation. Sure, Sundance launched “The Farewell,” “The Report,” and “Clemency” and a raft of strong documentaries, and Cannes yielded “Rocketman” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and a rich crop of likely foreign-language contenders. But all these films must withstand a powerful riptide of Oscar-bound movies with massive awards campaigns behind them. Distributors don’t head for Telluride if they aren’t confident that their entries will emerge with buzz and momentum heading into Toronto.

The filmmaking Duplass brothers were already making some big life changes when the election of Donald Trump uprooted everything.
“When Trump got elected, almost all of the ideas that Mark and I had immediately dropped off the table,” Jay Duplass told IndieWire recently at a SAG-aftra Foundation panel. “We were like, ‘everything has changed.’ Humor has changed. Impulse has changed.”
The Duplasses have changed. Once upon a time, Jay was known as the behind-the-lens guy, while Mark was seen more often on screen. But then “Transparent” gave Jay the acting bug, and he now sees himself as a thesp as much as a filmmaker. Mark, on the other hand, has been focusing his efforts lately on production.

As Donna, Bishé has spent all season exceptionally conveying her character’s concern about being viewed as less innovative than Cameron — a fear that was only confirmed when Cameron insisted that her partner was just “along for the ride.

Justin Timberlake on the Oscars' Red Carpet Justin Timberlake at the Academy Awards The Social Network actor Justin Timberlake arrives at the 83rd Academy Awards, which took place on Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. At the ceremony, Timberlake and Black Swan actress Mila Kunis introduced the nominees – and eventual winners – in the animation categories. Throughout the proceedings, he pretended to be the elusive Banksy, whose Exit Through the Gift Shop was a Best Documentary Feature contender. The joke fell mostly flat, but Timberlake actually elicited some laughs when he imitated three-time Oscar-nominated veteran Kirk Douglas*, who mercilessly stretched the Best Supporting Actress announcement into what seemed like hours. Admittedly, Douglas was funny. (The winner in that particular category turned out to be Melissa Leo for David O. Russell's The Fighter.) As announced by the Justin Timberlake-Mila Kunis duo, the Best Animated Short Film was Shaun Tan...

In the latest look at Jake Gyllenhaal's Nightcrawler, now set to hit theaters on Oct. 31, the actor's aspiring L.A. crime reporter takes matters into his own hands when he can't get hired by a news outlet. Nightcrawler, for which the actor lost a noticeable amount of weight (and some blood when he broke a mirror while filming a scene), co-stars Bill Paxton and was written and directed by Dan Gilroy. The Open Road film will get its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Los Angeles (AP) — After weathering a sea of controversy, "Noah" arrived in first place at the weekend box office. Paramount's biblical epic starring Russell Crowe in the titular role opened with $44 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The imaginative take on the tale of Noah's Ark from "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky led some religious groups to claim the story had been inaccurately depicted and prompted Paramount to add a disclaimer to marketing materials noting that "artistic license has been taken" in telling the story. The polarizing attention apparently paid off for "Noah," which features such additions to the well-known Bible story as angelic rock creatures and chic wardrobes for Noah and his family. "Noah," which also stars Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson, also sailed smoothly in 22 international markets, such as Russia and Australia, earning $33.6 million abroad. "It certainly feels like the film has really connected with both mainstream moviegoers...

Team Experience is celebrating Gay Pride with their favorite moments in gay cinema... Here's Craig (of 'Take Three' fame) on a certain seminal early 90s trip... Happy Gay Pride Weekend Everyone!
The open road and the “messed-up” faces along the way are what haunt lost hustler Mike (River Phoenix) most in My Own Private Idaho. In Gus Van Sant’s seminal 1991 gay road movie Mike trips through narcoleptic encounters with both male and female clients, Wizard of Oz-style barns crashing to the ground, talking porno mag covers, tableaux vivants sex scenes and Shakespeare’s Henry IV. His is an eventful, hardscrabble life filled with grit and longing. Each scene arouses memorable moments that every Idaho fan — gay, bi, straight or whatever it takes to have a nice day — surely still carries with them.
The most hopelessly romantic moment in the film and one of its best scenes is Mike’s campfire stopover.

It's not everyday you find a big box with the "Halo 4" logo plastered on the top of it, but the other day I was lucky enough to find just that waiting on my doorstep. As you can see in the photo above, it also sports the Doritos and Mountain Dew logos... What could possibly be inside?

Back in September, when Nintendo officially revealed pricing and purchase options for the Wii U, the company mentioned the Deluxe Digital Promotion for gamers who bought the Deluxe Set console. Up until this point details have been sparse on what exactly this promotion will give players, but Nintendo finally cleared things up yesterday.
According to Nintendo, "All Wii U Deluxe Set owners who purchase digital content for Wii U, including downloadable games in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and download codes sold at select retail stores, will earn points with a value equivalent to approximately 10 percent of the Nintendo eShop list price of each purchase."
The points you earn are then converted into credits that can be redeemed through the eShop. Apparently, every 500 points is worth $5 of eShop currency, meaning "New Super Mario Bros. U", which costs $59.99, will earn you 599 points, or $5 of eShop credit with 99 points leftover. It's sounds a little confusing,...

Want to get an early look at "Halo 4" multiplayer (again)? Well, it turns out you can do just that today at 2pm Et, thanks to the team at 343 Industries and their live-streaming Twitch.TV channel! Adding to the pre-release fun, it looks like Microsoft's Major Nelson will be taking Halo 4 related question via Twitter.
While you're watching the multiplayer stream you will be able to tweet questions at Major Nelson by including the hashtag #halo4stream. Those of you who haven't been consumed by the Twitter-verse quite yet can head over to Major Nelson's official blog and leave your questions in the comments section while you watch.
Though we still have a few things to learn before "Halo 4" lands on November 6th, we do now that multiplayer is now known as Infinity. The name comes from a massive vessel (the Unsc Infinity) that was sent into deep space as a training arena for Spartans.

Want to get a downloadable character for "Assassin's Creed III" before any of your friends (and the rest of the general public)? Well, you're going to have to drink some Nos Energy Drink first. As part of the Nos Rewards Series, Ubisoft and the energy drink maker are offering up the downloadable Sharpshooter (master of all firearms) through a new promotion.
According to the mysterious email I received this morning, the only way to get this character between now and January 31st is by heading over to drinkNOS.com, registering for an Nrs account and entering the code you find on your recently consumed can of Nos Energy Drink.
Thankfully, you won't have to drink a whole lot of it, as one point is all that's needed to secure the exclusive multiplayer character.
ooooh... so sharpshooter-y

Support for Microsoft SmartGlass has slowly been trickling out to new devices and applications over the past few months and now "Forza Horizon" has received SmartGlass support of it's own. The game throws players into an expansive open-world interpretation of Colorado, meaning there's a lot of ground to cover. Microsoft's solution? Allow players to use their tablet as an interactive map.
As of right now the "Forza Horizon" SmartGlass features are only available to users with a Windows 8 device. The new app allows players to pull up the same map of Colorado seen in game, but with a simple touch you can set waypoints
without having to interrupt the action the TV.
The new interactive map also shows players the locations of special items such as the smashable upgrade discount signs scattered around the state and highlights new race events players can take part in.

If it wasn't all that clear from my review, my time with Resident Evil 6 was less than satisfying, causing me to wish out loud that Capcom would take a break from Resident Evil and give the series a rethink. Like Devil May Cry 4, it felt like just another number, a lackluster, mechanically uninspired mess that will likely need a full-on hard reset to get fans interested in the franchise again.
And until then, I hope we don't see anything else Resident Evil-related for a few years. In fact, nothing could be better for the series than a break, some time away from the public eye for Capcom to go back, refresh, and find a new approach to the series (or some way to go back to basics for the new generation).
With that in mind, here are some other series that would do well with some time away.
