Back in December of 2020, Marvel announced that they were developing a Disney+ series called Armor Wars, which would star Don Cheadle as James “Rhodey” Rhodes, the armor-wearing hero known as War Machine. In August of 2021, Yassir Lester, who worked with Cheadle on the Showtime series Black Monday, was hired to be the show’s lead writer – and it was said that Lester’s pitch for Armor Wars had really excited Marvel executives, as well as Cheadle himself. In 2022, it was said that the events of the Disney+ series Secret Invasion would lead directly into the story of Armor Wars, which was expected to start filming in 2023. But in September of 2022, plans changed. Marvel announced that the six-episode series was being changed into a feature film, as they were “committed to getting the story told the right way and in that process realized that a feature was better suited for the project.

Before Black Panther 3, Ryan Coogler is all set to impress the viewers with a horror flick, titled Sinners. He will reunite with his Black Panther villain, Michael B. Jordan, who will be playing a dual role in this film. Coogler’s production company Proximity Media is behind the film and it began development a year ago in January 2025.

Sam is set to find himself in an international conspiracy of Hulk supporting characters, from President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford), aka the Red Hulk, to the long-unseen twisted scientist Samuel Sterns/The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson).

Charlie Cox returns in the title role, bringing The Man Without Fear back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his debut "official" appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and Echo. But even though those were his first Marvel Studios appearances, the events of the original Daredevil series have since been retroactively welcomed into the MCU canon, making this upcoming show a sequel.

Marvel has yet to release the full-length trailer for the show, but it has been offering up some snippets and teases of what to expect. Now, some brand new first look images have given us another glimpse of Matt Murdock's return, and this time he's not alone.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to lay the foundations for the culmination of the Multiverse Saga, fans are beginning to look ahead to some of the projects that may take place after that particular chapter reaches its conclusion. Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will act as a two-act ending to the story, just as the previous two Avengers movie wrapped up the Infinity Saga.

The irony is that some of these projects may end up being movies or TV shows that were initially expected to be a part of the Multiverse Saga but, for one reason or another, just never made it to the screen before Doctor Doom's showdown with the Avengers took form. That could mean there will be some tinkering needed, but it will be worth it if these projects come to fruition.

Daredevil: Born Again will premiere March 4, 2025, making it the first live-action Daredevil series to be produced by Marvel Studios. Daredevil: Born Again features a familiar cast of characters, with Matt Murdock, Kingpin, Punisher and others returning after three seasons on Netflix.

Prior to his return in Daredevil: Born Again, Kingpin made his grand appearance in the MCU timeline via a small role in Hawkeye before becoming a significant part of Echo. In the Echo series, a flashback scene shows Maya fighting Daredevil, which takes place during the five-year time period between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. This means Daredevil was never snapped, meaning Kingpin's reclamation of power makes him even more dangerous.

Daredevil Not Being Snapped Makes McU's Kingpin Even More...

Last November, we learned that Marvel Studios had reportedly given up on producing a Young Avengers movie. Instead, the focus has reportedly shifted to bringing the Champions to Disney+.

It's hard to deny that the moment for the Young Avengers to assemble has passed. Fans have pointed out for years that the characters who fit under that umbrella are ageing up quickly, and the clear lack of focus in the Multiverse Saga's early stages did little to get them where they needed to be for a team-up.

The search for a Champions showrunner has, however, begun and the main reason we're getting a movie instead of a TV show is supposedly down to The Marvels underperforming at the box office last year.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has also discussed the importance of protecting the Avengers brand and a Young Avengers spin-off that doesn't live up to expectations would risk tarnishing the main event movies.

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is a fan-favorite character in the MCU. His last live-action role was in the Hawkeye series, though he technically lent his voice to the What If…? Season 2 episode, ‘What If…Happy Hogan Saved Christmas.’

Disney+ shows don’t often get second seasons, except for ‘Loki,’ which had an even better second season. But a few months ago we reported that MCU might be breaking this trend since it’s been heavily rumored that ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2 is in development!

Bear in mind that no official confirmation for the show exists, but thanks to the industry insider we know a thing or two about the plot.

Kate Bishop is set to play a much larger role in Season 2, as she has officially taken up the Hawkeye mantle. Additionally, the show is expected to maintain its winter setting.

Back when the first season of Hawkeye was still in production, there were rumors that the Disney+ series would feature Clint Barton's villainous brother Barney, aka Trickshot. The character obviously never appeared, but we recently heard that he was expected to make his MCU debut in the planned - though still not officially announced - season 2.

Now, scooper Daniel Richtman is reporting that Marvel Studios has made an offer to an A-list actor to play Barney, who will most likely serve as the primary antagonist of the season. We don't have a name, but Richtman expects the character to factor into "multiple projects" going forward.

In the comics, Charles "Barney" Barton looked out for his younger brother, teaching him how to fight and improve his aim as they attempted to coexist with their abusive father. The pair eventually joined a carnival, becoming enamoured with Jacques DuQuesne/Swordsman, who took Clint on as his mentee.

The “Hawkeye” star rang in the start of 2025 by sharing his New Year’s blessings in a social media post alongside a photo of doctors and nurses next to him during his recovery in the hospital. “Ringing in my second ‘ReBirthday’ today,” Renner wrote, marking two years since the accident on New Year’s Day 2023.

“I send out my love, respect and gratitude for the army of people that it took to put me back together again,” Renner continuedT. “Thank you to each and every nurse, doctor, first responder… I literally owe you my life. All my heart goes out to my beautiful, brave nephew and the angels (my neighbors) who jumped to my aid and endured the chaos for 45 long minutes on the icy asphalt New Years morning.”

No original Avenger is confirmed for Marvel's 2025 lineup, but one needs to appear to resolve a glaring story issue. 12 years after The Avengers, only a few of the original team are still active in the MCU timeline. Iron Man and Black Widow sacrificed themselves to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame and Captain America retired with Peggy Carter. Thor, Bruce Banner, and Hawkeye are the only original MCU Avengers left, and they still have more to do. However, it's unknown when these characters will return next.

The McU's 2025 lineup includes three movies and three Disney+ shows. Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye aren't expected in any of these projects, but Hawkeye has connections to Thunderbolts* and Daredevil. While Hawkeye wouldn't have a starring role, the character needs to return in 2025 to address the narrative ties he has to these two projects.

The early review scores on Rotten Tomatoes for the McU's final release of 2024 have changed the bottom of the ranking of Marvel TV shows released in the Disney+ era, with She-Hulk: Attorney At Law moving off the inauspicious podium. Tatiana Maslany's 2022 show still holds the lowest Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, at 32%, but critics scored it higher at 79% amid speculation about review bombing from users.

What If...? season 3 has now dropped into the McU's bottom 3 for TV shows on Rotten Tomatoes, for both Critics Score and Audience Score. The early Critics Score for the current multiversal show is at 75%, while the Audience Score is lower at 56%. Only 2024 opener Echo (70%) and Secret Invasion (52% have lower Critics Scores as things stand), while the McU's lowest-rated show Secret Invasion (44%) and She-Hulk (32%) have lower Audience Scores.

As we look ahead to the new year, Disney+ is gearing up to release exciting new content for its global audience. We're talking about shows such as Goosebumps: The Vanishing, Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again and Andor season 2. However, for various reasons, there are some Disney+ shows that won't be returning with additional installments in the new year.

Ever since Marvel Studios made its presence felt on the Disney Plus streaming service, things haven't been the same for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchise once dominated the silver screen; now, it's dominating the small one, too. Granted, there have been some ups and downs along the way, some wins and some losses for the franchise, but all in all, it's helped expand the MCU in new ways, opening it up to vastly different methods of storytelling and new kinds of tales.

It all started with WandaVision in 2021, and that first year continued to produce hits like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If...?, and Hawkeye, while more came in the years that succeeded it. It was clear: Marvel had a new vision for small screen domination, and it was pulling it off. What wasn't quite as clear was whether any of these shows would return for second seasons.

During the holiday season, audiences are always looking for something with a clear festive spirit to make their Christmas-watching fun and nostalgic. Ironically, one of this year's most popular options is Netflix's Black Doves, a gripping espionage thriller series starring Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw. Although its story is quite dark and gritty at times, Black Doves' soundtrack features some classic holiday songs that help create a wintery atmosphere throughout the story.

Hawkeye is another recent example of a streaming-released festive TV show that became essential viewing for the holiday season, and this year, it may be competing with Black Doves for those viewing numbers. Now, insider Daniel Richtman has reported on his Patreon that a Strange Academy series is “officially” in development at Marvel Studios. This is the first time this particular show has been mentioned.

In the comics, Strange Academy is about a magical school founded by Doctor Strange in New Orleans to teach young sorcerers. The students come from all over the Marvel Universe, including humans, Asgardians, demons, and other mystical beings.

The story of Strange Academy follows students as they learn to control their magical powers, face challenges, and deal with friendships and rivalries. Characters like Zelma Stanton, Wong, and other magic users from Marvel help guide the students.
