Featured review
This is definitely not one of the brighter moments in the history of Thai horror cinema. And chances are, if you enjoy Asian horror cinema as I do, that you will be sorely disappointed and bored when (and if) you sit down to watch "The Commitment".
The title of the movie itself is sort of ironic, because it was progressively more and more difficult to commit to this movie as it trotted on and on in a very monotone and rather boring storyline.
As for the storyline, well it didn't make any sense, to be blunt. You see an accident in the beginning of the movie and a girl running away from it. Then it changes to a group of young girls goofing around at a ceremonial site and pledging some rather dull things. Then it becomes a random collection of scenes of t he girls being haunted by some ghost. It just doesn't have any coherency and the red line was lost early on in the story.
This is one of the most boring and dull Thai horror movies that I have seen, and it seemed pretty much like nothing more than a movie to show off a bunch of pretty Thai actresses.
The only scary part about "The Commitment" was the lack of scares and the lack of a properly thought through storyline.
If you enjoy Asian horror movies, or Thai horror movies in particular, then your money is better off spent elsewhere. If you manage to sit through this movie, as I did, it is the one and only time you will do so. There is nothing appealing about "The Commitment".
