A perfect storm of titles previously delayed by the pandemic combined with features set to launch on the back of the Netherlands Film Festival later this month means that a bumper harvest of home-grown films is set for release in Dutch theaters this autumn.

Anticipated titles include Alex van Warmerdam’s latest feature “No. 10,” which tells the story of an actor who cannot recall his past but who is strong-armed into his future by a group of strangers.

“Goldie” director Sam de Jong also looks set to return with his third film, “Met Mes,” a satire about the media focusing on a TV personality who exaggerates the theft of a new camera, which leads to unforeseen consequences.

Other films creating buzz include “My Father Is an Aeroplane,” directed by Antoinette Beumer (“Jackie”), which is set to open the Netherlands Film Festival.

"We never argued in the mountains." Level 33 Entertainment has released an official US trailer for an indie out-in-nature thriller from The Netherlands titled Magic Mountains, by Polish writer / director Urszula Antoniak. The film's intriguing, mysterious setup is what makes it so compelling: a successful writer asks his ex, who left him years ago, to climb one last time in the mountains together. Only then he can really let her go... Or at least that's what he claims. Their guide senses something is up and refuses to leave Hannah alone with him in the moutnains. The film stars Thomas Ryckewaert as Lex, Hannah Hoekstra as Hannah, and Marcin Dorocinski as their guide Voytek. This has some outstanding cinematography, more muted and greyer than usual for nature, but that's to achieve a melancholic feeling for the story. I'm quite curious. Industry registration closes on September 2.

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) organisers on Tuesday (September 1) announced a selection of 30 global acquisition titles outside the Official Selection.

TIFF Industry Selects titles hail from 29 countries and have been hand-picked by TIFF’s industry and festival programming teams and will screen to accredited users on the festival’s dedicated press and industry platform, TIFF Digital Cinema Pro. Industry registration closes on September 2.
