I have to say that I loathe anyone thinks s/he has better ideas than Stephen King about his works. That being said, there are exceptions (like Darabont's ending for The Mist) like this short film. Making the main character female does not change this short story, which creeped me out when I read it. I loved this little film. They kept the themes true, the creepiness level is great, and even some of the dialog is taken right from the story. Jennifer Trudrung is great as Miss Bird -- just exactly as I imagined her, and the little Easter eggs throughout are fun to catch. Really a great film.

HERE THERE BE TYGERS, directed by Polly Schattel, written by Jennifer Trudrung and starring the BRILLIANT young star Penny Munroe is an absolute MUST SEE, especially for those fans of the Stephen King short story! In this haunting short film, Schattel, Trudrung and Munroe put a wonderfully terrifying spin on the original short story by cleverly telling the tale from another perspective. It's no surprise that Here There Be Tygers WON both The Darkness Award as well as the Audience Choice Award at the 2020 Blackbird Film Festival.
