The Series: "The Owl House"
Where You Can Stream It: Disney+, DisneyNow, YouTube
The Pitch: Do you like "Halloween Town"? Of course you do, you're clearly a connoisseur of quality cinema. Now, imagine if "Halloween Town" was written by one of those fan-fiction authors who crams every crevice of their story with the kind of detail that would make even J. R. R. Tolkien drool. Now, stop imagining "Halloween Town" because, frankly, you've been holding onto that franchise for too long. It's time to let go. Instead, turn your mind to "The Owl House," an animated series created by Dana Terrace. The story follows Luz Noceda (Sarah Nichole-Robles) after she stumbles into the Demon Realm, a dimension apart from our...

Marwan Kenzari, the Aladdin star who stole scenes in The Old Guard, is in final negotiations to join Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam, New Line’s action-adventure thriller featuring the DC Comics antihero.
The feature is heading toward an April start in Atlanta with Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge and Quintessa Swindell on the roll call.
Black Adam is the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s critical and commercial hit Shazam! with the two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, being arch rivals in the DC Universe.
Plot details for the project are being firmly held in the kingdom of Kahndaq but one thing superhero and film fans are excited ...

Octavia Spencer might be a world famous actress with three Academy Award nominations under her belt and one win for The Help, but her road to the top was hardly easy. Only in the last decade or so has she become a regular and recognizable fixture on our screens, despite having been working in the industry for almost a quarter of a century.
Early roles included small parts in episodes of ER, The X-Files and Malcolm in the Middle, as well as playing Woman in Elevator in Being John Malkovich, Check-In Girl in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and Security Guard in Legally Blonde 2. It took the 50 year-old a long time to catch her big break, but now she’s firmly established as one of the most consistently watchable names in the business with a string of critical and commercial hits over the last few years.

Netflix dropped their latest blockbuster original this week in the form of Project Power, a superhero action pic with some solid Marvel and DC pedigree behind it. Jamie Foxx (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises) star, while The Batman‘s Mattson Tomlin penned the script. Not bad, right?
There was a lot of hype around the film ahead of its release and now that it’s here, it seems that it’s gone down pretty well with subscribers. Many people are really digging the high-concept premise and fresh take on what’s become a stale formula in recent years. In other words, it’s another big hit for Netflix.
And as with most of the streamer’s other recent success stories, folks are already campaigning for a sequel. Indeed, Project Power certainly has franchise potential and there are several interesting directions that a follow-up could head in.

It appears that Netflix has another hit on its hands with the Charlize Theron action flick, The Old Guard. According to industry sources, the movie is set to be be seen by 72 million households within the next four weeks. That would land it comfortably at the number 6 spot in the pantheon of Netflix's top original movies ever. Not bad for a movie that many…...

Hot on the heels of Extraction and The Old Guard comes Netflix's latest action-extravaganza, Project Power, starring Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in rare action hero mode. The premise is pretty solid, with the idea being that there's a pill that can give people super-powers for five minutes, with the catch being you never know what the power will be until you test it. Some baddies are using it for evil and based on the trailer, it looks as though Foxx's daughter is…...

We know not to expect the actual X-Men team in the McU for a while, but it’s possible that the first mutant in the franchise could appear as soon as next year’s Black Widow. Fans have been wondering when the fruits of the Disney/Fox merger would start to materialize in the Marvel universe, and this compelling theory from ScreenRant suggests that mutantkind will be introduced as soon as this coming May.
To begin with, it’s a fact that Oliver Richters, the world’s tallest bodybuilder, is set to play a role in the movie. Nicknamed “the Dutch Giant,” Richters – who stands at 7 ft 2 inches – revealed on Instagram back in August that he’d spent three weeks shooting on the Scarlett Johansson-starring picture in the UK. Obviously, he didn’t reveal the nature of his role, but there is one character from the comics who...

A new “Planet of the Apes” movie is in the works at Disney and Fox in what will be the first feature in the franchise since Disney acquired Fox. And the studio has tapped Wes Ball, the director of “The Maze Runner,” to develop and direct the new film, and individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
The project is described as in the early development stages, and it’s not clear whether this will be a continuation of the trilogy that recently concluded with Matt Reeves’ “War for the Planet of the Apes” in 2017, or whether it’s a full reboot or a separate standalone film.
The franchise kicked off with the 1968 sci-fi classic starring Charlton Heston and has since continued into a lucrative trilogy that pulled in $1.68 billion at the worldwide box office.
