No, it's pure pretense. Bara wrote two complete book chapters ("Ancient Aliens on the Moon" ch.6 and "Ancient Aliens and JFK" ch.8) affirming the reality of Apollo in no uncertain terms. 15 years ago he co-wrote (with Richard Hoagland and Steve Troy) an online essay titled "Who Mourns for Apollo?" expressing exactly opposite opinions from those he pretends to have in this TV series. He did it for the money.
