Typical action filled episode. Two crooks and their moll use an ex-cell mate's gas station to set up robbery of a van carrying mucho money. The crooks are tough customers, even using the station owner's wife as a hostage. And even their blonde moll wields a nasty gun. So what's going to happen once the robbery occurs and Mathews and HP approach the station with the owner and wife under pointed guns. In short, it's sweaty time for fans of HP.
Note presence of future movie star Stuart Whitman as a patrolman. Also, could casting director have found a sweeter looking wife-hostage than Mary Hennessy, an innocent presence that helps drive the suspense. But please tell me how Crawford manages to see anything with what must be the narrowest squint in show biz-- check it out. Anyway, it's a fast moving 30-minutes with no drag time, plus on-location filming that apparently includes the house interiors. All in all, it's an enduring 50's cop show at its near best.
