"Famous Cousins of Mine" was originally produced for the Kino Film (48-Hour) Contest in Louisville, Kentucky, 13-15 June 2008. Honorable Brennan James Callan Col. It was one of many of Brennan's films that were lost on a damaged hard drive in August 2009 & the film had to be rebuilt from a DVD & then other updates took place including a memorial dedication to Ryan Christopher Mouritsen, Brennan's dear friend who all of his films are now being dedicated to Ryan.
There was so much more content that needed to be added, that making this for a 15-minute level for the film contest at Somerset Community College in Somerset, KY was the next step. The goals in the future are to make this research come to life & be a full-feature film that is acted out by professional actors. The 5-minute & 15-minute films were a method of assembling the larger facts & preparing for yet longer versions or the full-feature film that has not been produced yet.

Callan is the direct descendant and/or cousin of these prominent horse industry leaders. He wanted to tell their stories so they are not forgotten over time and that for anyone researching the horse industry, they would see the importance of the genealogical connections to having successful businesses. It is worth understanding the roots of ancestors as their jobs and locations impact the future generations. This film explores who those passions of the ancestors impact all of horse racing contemporary from the breeding operations to the Kentucky Derby. All of that industry was greatly influenced by the very same family as well as the descendants that still are involved herein.
While there is a lot of reading to this film, getting actors to play the various roles, get costuming, props, and countless other items and locations for a film are expensive and time consuming. The film was showed widely, but an additional goal of the film is to involve future cast/crew and supporters who want to see the full version be made.
