Progress Chapter 77: Pumpkin Spice PROGRESS

Tremendous main event with amazing atmosphere - WALTER and Zack are two of the greatest in the sport and their match was an enthralling fight. Stands along all their great matches - echoes of their 2016 16 Carat match, but instead of a 13-minute opener it was a dramatic main event. So many of the great ZSJ matches this year are built around Zack's ostentatious submission game, but this one was more about Zack weathering the storm when faced with his inability to tie the mighty WALTER up in knots. Undercard was breezy; Trent vs Gino the most enjoyable. Gino & William Eaver being the surprise wrestlers (Gino for Trent's mystery opponent and Eaver for Tyler Bate) didn't make sense. So-so opener featuring Eaver's Power of Now gimmick that might eventually work but was death as the surprise replacement for the masterclass of Thatcher/Bate. The crowd was pretty quiet for first half of the show (they did love Trent & Aussie Open). Robinson/Mandrews had heat/action/excitement but was short. Women's division has been less than the sum of its parts. There's a great Eddie Dennis promo on this show. Semi-main wasn't too memorable but I loved Haskins' passion and he built momentum with this match; Havoc was really over but wasn't the focus of the match. I appreciated much more live the Jim Smallman parts and the Electric Ballroom is a charming venue and the fans seemed like nice people! This show flew by and I had a great time.
