I was enjoying the show when they had three families competing against each other. Why did they change the format to only two families? It doesn't work with only two! It's terrible! There needs to be more families! Even four competing would be good, but not just two! I don't like it! And I liked when the mystery guest was on the cell phone, not in person, I thought that was cool. Also, showing just two mom's sitting there on the couch, instead of the whole audience, whose idea was that? They sit there alone smiling? No good! The new format doesn't cut it. Sometimes change is not good! If it doesn't go back to the way it was, I'm not going to watch anymore.
Good idea but, it seems like the writers aren't doing their research. 10 year olds trying to identify members of pop groups that broke up in 2016, they were 4. Lots of questions not geared towards the kids ages. Stupid. They don't seem to gear the questions towards the ages of the contestants appearing on the show at the time. The contestants of each generation should be very close to the same ages. Especially the kids. The age difference and general knowledge between a 13 and 15 year old is a lot when you're a kid. The best part is the end when the winning team has a toddler from the family pick the prize to keep. A new car, and a REALLY cool Toy. That choice Wont be available for a second season!

The show is kind of funny sometimes kind of boring kind of dumb rarely interesting I don't like Kelly Ripa why do they only have two teams for an hour the ending is really ridiculous having the kids choose the prize is stupid. Worst part is the announcers voice though makes me wanna puke.
ABC is in a class by themselves when it comes to making terrible game shows. I don't know how it's possible, but they somehow accomplished making a game show more frustrating and less enjoyable to watch than The Celebrity Dating Game (which is saying a lot!).
Let me count the ways in which I detested this mess:
-Filler! Tons of filler! 3 sets of interviews to fill up the 1 hour run time. This definitely should have been 2, 30 minute games broken up into 1 hour. So much filler.
-The "describe the object" round is weird and anti-climatic for a final round.
-Kelly Ripa talks to all the contestants like they are 3 year olds. Painful conversations.
-The absolute worst part, however, was the "bonus round". Let me describe this bizarre scene:
At the very end of the show, the contestants are told their youngest family member gets to "pick" a bonus prize. Either a really cool toy, or a car. First of all it's weird in that someone who didn't play all game gets to be involved in the finale. Also...what if your family has no toddler? Guess you're excluded from ever playing this game.
But, this is a "joke" round, you see it's supposed to be funny if the kid picks the toy, I guess? But it's the first time in game show history that I can remember a bonus round that includes a "screw you over" element. But that's "funny"...right? (Who thought up this?)
"Oh, that family could've gotten a car, but they got a toy car instead. Sooo funny!" Ugh. First and last time I watch this.

The contestants were the only good thing about this stinker. It seemed like maybe Steve Harvey got sick so they had to come up with a filler show and only had ten minutes to do so. Appalling bad, uninteresting and a total waste of time. Shame on the producers for putting out such drivel.
I want to start off by saying that I do like the premise of the show, having mutiple generations of people solve diffrent questions from each time period is a decent idea. However, the execution is bad. First off unlike other game shows they seem to want the contestants to get it wrong for the lols. Like there was one girl who seemingly knew the answers and was begging to be called on, yet they choose the older ones two get it wrong. They're also some pretty easy questions, and most of them seem to get it wrong. And when they do win, out of nowhere they have this stupid segment where instead of wining the car they have the youngest daughter choose between the car and a toy car. Which is just so stupid they played the game so they should be the ones who choose. Overall, this game show feels like it was made for the contestants to lose. Stick to some good old Jeopardy.
Okay- I love this concept, I love Kelly Ripa. Episode 2 was definitely better. Hoping they work out the kinks. But doubtful there will be a season 2. The car vs toy at the end is pretty funny but I'm sure it's not for the contestants.

From time to time in the summer watch seasonal game shows and decided to check out this latest from "ABC" called "Generation Gap" as I like trivia about pop culture's past. Also I was streamed in once I found out the attractive Kelly Ripa was host(as I don't watch her as much since my local station took off "Kelly and Ryan") overall the game show is nothing great yet super fun. It involves players from the same family of different generations who compete against an opposite family and each team answers questions about past pop culture from different time frames. Many answers given are laughable as the younger contestants don't know older things, or older famous people, while the older generation players don't know many of today's stars like the name of their songs or movies. Plus celebrities make special appearances and Kelly's dad Joe comes on and introduces questions, and even sings. Maybe a good summer watch as it takes one down the past and blends with current pop culture, it's nice seeing the beautiful and sexy Kelly Ripa as she's a funny and a witty host who perks things up!
Are you guys at ABC kidding me? You took off The Chase and put this trash in it's time slot. You guys better reevaluate your lineup! The chase had me on the edge of my seat every week plus you can learn a little as well as watch an awesome show.
The other reviews are so miserable.
It's NOT the first time a kid picks a prize at the end (there is a British show that did it first) and the interviews at the beginning are pretty common in game shows, but I guess some peoples attention spans are screwed. It's supposed to be silly and cheesy! Anyway, cheer up meanies, this show is fun to some of us. If you don't like a show just don't watch it? Lol going and writing a bad review on just a fun loving show is awful and embarrassing.
Also love Kelly Ripa, she is wonderful and makes me happy. Please ignore the hate!

Generation Gap was originally a segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live, with Cousin Sal playing the moderator. Kimmel is just a producer on this incarnation, and Kelly Ripa is the host. There is something so unlikeable about Ms Ripa and fake.
Cousin Sal made the bit and without him, it sinks.

Saw one team member hit the button first for the steal but did not work and after the other teen answered the question I could see the elderly gentleman looking around and checking his button what's up with that, like I said rigged for who they want to will that night.

I can't think of one good thing about this show. And the final "bonus round" where a young child chooses the prize is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
Watch literally anything else. Seriously.

This show Generation Gap on ABC is young kids with their grandmas or grandpas answering questions. Its as if they put a search out for the dumbest people on planet earth, and found them. Kelly Ripa has to pretend how great they all are. U find it hard to come up with another 300 words to deacribe how embarassingly bad, and forced everything is about this show. It us so bad I cant even laugh at it. I cant believe the contestants have to go home to the rest of their families and face the music. Kelly Ripa really is at the bottom of the game show barrel here, and I feel bad for her...i guess.
Wow Bad.

This is what happens when you try to make a show for all ages, it's ends up safe and meh. Plus they paraded out garbage Ryan Seacrest for the first episode.

I would rather have a root canal than sit through another episode of this show! Can't stand Kelly Ripa, who actually isn't the worst part of this insipid drivel! Please make it go away!

The family that won this episode must have been very special! Their 3 yr old was not inticed by a new shiny toy, he was offered an electric guitar, of all things. Really?!
In what world does a 3 yr old child want an electric guitar?
Of course he would pick the bigger prize, in that situation.
He should have been tempted by a childs jeep or something childlike, or something fun. Just like all the other children were, in the previous episodes.
Why the sudden change?
It'll be interesting to see what next weeks child will be tempted with.
I believe a little favoritism was in play, in this episode.
Also, please don't ever dress Kelly in that awful green toad of an outfit. It was really hard to watch her in that oversized john deere sack.

Okay, own up. Who gave this show 10 out of 10. Was it you Kelly? This is an offering exhumed from the vaults of Game show's past and quite frankly it stinks to high Heaven. Here's my question: Why? In God's name ABC, why? A successful game show makes you feel part of it-it's an exciting interactive experience-you connect with the participant like they were a long lost relative-rooting for someone you were only introduced to twenty minutes ago. Unfortunately, Ripa is disingenuous at best. The comedy is forced. The laughter is nothing short of canned. You know what should be canned? You'll need every single person involved in this show to give it 10 out of ten to get it above three. My advice? Life is precious. Don't waste it here.
