One of the rare Finnish feature films that was partly shot in Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.
The film is based on a play that has been shown in Tampere Theatre since 2003. Many of the actors are the same, but some changes have been made. For example, the part of sergeant major Molotov that was played by Jukka Leisti in the play was played by Heikki Hela in the film. However, the part of Robban that was played by Hela in the play was played by Timo Kahilainen in the film.
