It brings us, the viewers, utter dismay every time one is forced to come to terms with the glorified central character who is actually lacking in character. Brings shame to the entire Bengali society that has always challenged every other society in terms of liberations that have led to great struggles to empower womanhood.
Here's a woman who loves to stay with her ex-husband and his new wife in the same house. She doesn't that unapologetically. She is okay with taking favours from her boyfriend but she cannot be committed to him because she is an escapist. While she indulges in promoting the villainous schemes of her divorced husband's wife she has no bone of tolerance for a person who is loved by her daughter. Her daughter's love interest cannot be given a chance since he's from a poor background but Sreemoyee's middle class outlook allows her to be a masochist.
Sreemoyee means the emasculate Lakshmi. Indrani Halder is all set to play this amusing character but little does she realise that generations later her choice to portray Sreemoyee may be the most uninspiring.
One cannot think of any Bengali family that allows a divorced woman to stay with her ex-husband and his wife. All the help by the strong Rohit Sen is well taken by this lady but only to aid her to stay in this regressive alliance.
Hats off to the story writer, director and producers who want to set up an new normal for the society. If you are wandering why do I see the serial then I admit that I don't see it but the excerpts are continuously flashed by the channel when you are watching the other serials.
