Being huge fans of the 80s TV show "The Tripods" by the BBC, the filmmakers hid the title melody from that show in the waveform of an emergency signal in the film.
Only two lines are spoken by the actors in the whole film. One in English by Tomasz (Stefan Ebel) and the other one in Russian by Lilja (Siri Nase). Both are saying the words "I am here!" in their languages.
The blue drug that protagonist Tomasz is taking, is actually blue nail polish dye. The actor Stefan Ebel wasn't supposed to really take it but he did so anyway.
Lead actor Stefan Ebel went through an incredible physical training for "A Living Dog". In his role as the protagonist Tomasz he had to run through wild forests, jump into rivers and steer a boat from underwater, climb up a mountain with a big and heavy box and... last but not least had to fight his co-star Siri Nase with his hands tied together and lots of tape over his mouth, so he had a pretty hard time breathing. He actually hurt himself on the last day of shooting, but still continued to play.
The whole film was financed via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter by Daniel Raboldt and Thorsten Franzen. Almost everybody worked for free on this film, but got paid after the release of the film.
