This is a low budget film that is far more entertaining because of Lamore Morris' performance as a glib, smooth talking salesman who ends up trying to con one too many suckers. He's a salesperson to the very end, can't help himself no matter where he might be, the con is always on.
Unfortunately it doesn't go anywhere except for more revelations as they move along which isn't terrible, just not terribly redeeming. There are amusing moments regularly and what keeps you going.
The entire film takes place primarily in one location. I think it would have been better with about 10 minutes stripped down and a more redeeming destination. But it's far better than the terrible pandemic direct to video junk that has been produced.

I wanted to like 'Death of a Telemarketer'. The plot-line sounded fun and there were a couple of fun actors in the cast who can be quite good with the right material. I quickly realised however that this film was not going to be an enjoyable ride.
It starts off trying to be a quick-witted comedy, but absolutely none of the jokes are landing. At that point I thought I was in for a very long 90 minutes. Then the film changes up and becomes a lot darker and more serious. This was at least a lot more interesting to watch than what the beginning of the film was offering.
It still wasn't landing though. The concept was ridiculous, the character motivations were laughable (not in an intentional way unfortunately) and then at the end it tries to be heart-felt and it is just cringe-worthy.
I didn't have a great time with 'Death of a Telemarketer' I'm sad to say. Not one I'd recommend. 3/10.

I definitely regret watching this film. It was a total waste of time. I got to the hour mark and almost turned it off. I realized I only had about 25 minutes left so I decided to ride it out. Bad idea! It basically only gets worse. Don't make the same mistake I did. Pass on this one. 3 stars.

Lamorne Morris really carried this so well! It's not a big movie and there are few other characters so it relies heavily on him and he delivered as he always does. It's a lot different than his New Girl or Game Night acting and it was just as fun.
The minor characters also keep you entertained, especially Haley Joel Osment in his weird role. His scenes with the actor who played Barry and Lamorne were some of the funniest parts for me.
Alisha Wainwright is stunning and does great in her little amount of screen time especially towards the end.
Loved Barry's minor storyline too
The plot is a little silly but all the actors have the talent to carry it and you feel a lot of sympathy for telemarketers in the end
I guess the motivations are a little off and hard to believe but the actors all do their best to sell it and letting go of that disbelief helped sell the movie for me.
I was almost put off by some of the other reviews but I'm glad I watched, though not sure if would watch it over and over again.
I'd for sure recommend it and say it's far better than I expected from the reviews!

Some funny parts. The l4ad actor looks like a young wimpy Wesley Snipes but his acting is actually OK.
If there is nothing else to watch then this is OK to watch late at night for sure.
Sure it's low budget, it's not "Blade" Wesley snipes action or "Ricky Gervais" funny , but it is somehow watchable. THe lead actor even talks like a young wesley snipes LOL.

Coming from someone that used to work in the call center world this movie was an instant click. It ramps up relatively slow but in the end sends a clear message from the view of the people calling your phone. Lamorne Haley and Jakie's acting is pretty much what holds this film together though. The rest of the cast were okay, believable and had some silly moments here and there. But they didnt really pop during the movie. It could be attributed to the fact they didnt have as much screen time, but ive seen actors do more with less (Alisha was alright towards the end). All in all if youre looking for a quick movie with some humorous moments, and a look into the psyche of these salesmen calling your phone its a good watch.
