New York City rats take no prisoners, and neither did David Lynch when he created this macabre, doom-tastic PSA for the metropolis in 1991. Dp Frederick Elmes previously worked with the oddball filmmaker on Eraserhead and Blue Velvet, and the duo's style is equally strong here. The clip features a hissing rat, foreboding music, and people carelessly tossing trash all over the city's sidewalks. Unsurprisingly, there's something very 1950s about it — dark, while retaining a slight edge of humor. Check it out below. [via thedailywh.at] We've already become tired of hipsters and the overuse and incorrect use of the word hipster, but now we can officially say we're tired of the parodies of hipsters on top of everything else. This one comes...

Twilight's Kristen Stewart said she was tortured by rats & more in Snow White Huntsman flick. Entertainment Tonight recently dropped this new clip (below),which features interviews with three of the main stars from the upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman" flick, including our little Twilight Saga hottie Kristen Stewart, who revealed, she had to swim with nasty little rats at one point. In the clip, they revealed that Kristen is worth a whopping $55 million dollars or so right now, which is pretty wild. After that, they showed her filming new footage for the flick in a special "behind the scenes" segment. Next, they showed interview footage with her, where she revealed that she had to be in water with rats, and that it was rat torture. But,don't worry. She said, the rats were more like pets than New York City rats. She actually felt kind of sorry for the rats,...

This writer recently hit the set of filmmaker Creep Creepersin’s latest flick, Lovesick Captivity, in Burbank, California, and while there chatted with the director concerning the feature as well as the slew of upcoming projects he’s currently prepping.
Our visit came on the third and final day of principal photography for Lovesick Captivity (Creepersin works historically fast); yet, we found the filmmaker rather relaxed, regardless of the time constraint. The psychological thriller, which chronicles the rising domestic strife between a man and his blushing bride (the latter is stalked by a serial killer and subsequently has been forced into self-imposed house arrest), stars longtime Creepersin collaborator Charlie Vaughn, Dylan Vox (Brides of Sodom), Jeff Dylan Graham (Don’t Look in the Basement), Robbyn Leigh (Devil’s Den), Katie Costick (City Rats) and supermodel Heather Hewitt. Andrew Ceperley serves as director of photography, and Nikki Wall and Creepersin produce along with Tom Ingram.

Being a huge Danny Dyer fan (seen City Rats? Highly recommended) I'm greatly looking forward to this, and oh yeah, there's zombies too. Thanks to producer Jonathan Sothcott, we know the film will be screening at the Cannes market and will be getting an October DVD release in the UK via E1. He also points out that Dyer is in "top form in quite a different role, as an ex-cop desperately trying to find his girlfriend amidst the zombie apocalypse." Further, he says that director Mark McQueen has made a zombie movie "with genuine style and lean, no a mean feat". Bring It On!

Danny Dyer's been in quite a bit of television and film, the most recent of which I've seen is City Rats which I loved, and now he's headlining what's being touted as a modern day It's a Wonderful Life. Currently in production, 7Lives sounds quite fascinating but the promo reel we have for the film shows nothing of the "parallel world" that the unhappily married Tom falls into.
A disgruntled married man called Tom who believes that life has got something better to offer him. On his way home one night he gets attacked and falls into a parallel world where he lives 6 other lives including a Rock-Star, A homeless person and the 'hoody' that attacked him. In order to get home he must face some of his deepest fears and desires. Will he make it home or is the grass greener on the other side?
Promo reel after the break.

London -- U.K. indie distributor Revolver Entertainment is following the U.S. studio lead by providing digital files of upcoming DVD releases, Revolver said Tuesday.
Such files allow consumers to transfer the content onto devices such as iPhone, PlayStation Portable and Windows Media Player.
The first Revolver DVD release to carry a digital copy will be "City Rats" starring Danny Dyer, Susan Lynch and Tamer Hassan, due to hit the shelves here this week.
Revolver chief Justin Marciano said: "Having a digital copy you can easily transfer onto your personal devices means that the film or program can be enjoyed more easily on the move."...

Danny Dyer has confessed that he "went method" to play an alcoholic in his new movie City Rats. Speaking on Paul O'Grady's Channel 4 chat show, the actor revealed that he would down cans of lager before going to work to prepare for the role. "My character is very depressed and I'm an alcoholic in it which gave me the opportunity to go a bit method," he said. "I would learn the lines the night before and embed it in my skull. That way I could get up in the morning, bang down a couple of Special Brew [and] have a bacon roll. And it worked because it gave me a bit of freedom. You know you try things because you're a little bit tipsy, it makes you a bit braver." (more)...

Before footage for this Slamdance premier even dropped I checked out what was available at the time, and that was just stills. I wasn't impressed so I pretty much wrote this one off, but luckily I revisited it some time later to find a great surprise, one amazing looking film.
Eight haunted people meet and fall apart - looking for redemption in each other. Jim is throwing watermelons off his office roof. He's testing the effect for a possible suicide. But then there is Sue on an adjacent roof about to jump herself. They meet, delay their departure and set off searching for other ways out than down. Sue's ex-boyfriend, Dean, is struggling with his creativity. His paintings are getting panned and his poetry ripped apart. He needs a muse - and who better than Gina, the experimental prostitute with dodgy legs who lives next door. However, Dean soon finds...

The Slamdance competition is open only to under-$1 million budgeted films from first-time filmmakers and runs at the same time as Sundance (in Utah) to show a more truer "independent" film style. I Sell the Dead which was well received at Tad will be opening the fest. Also playing will be The Broken Lizard's latest film The Slammin' Salmon, and Mum and Dad.

- Glenn McQuaid’s black comedy horror film “I Sell the Dead” and the latest from the Broken Lizard clan are among the 29 films from first time filmmakers in both narrative and docu categories that have been announced for the 15th edition of the Slamdance. I’ve never really cared for the film fest, only because it simultaneously takes place during the Sundance film fest, but what I find really appealing this year is if you are a buyer looking to cut expenses this year you can download the entire fringe film fest from www.indieroad.net/slamdance. With the exclusion of the short film selections, the festival's four programming sections (Narrative Features, Documentaries, Special Screenings and Twilight Screenings) is listed below. "I Sell the Dead," Glenn McQuaid's darkly comic horror tale about bumbling grave robbers starring Dominic Monaghan and Ron Perlman, will serve as the opening-night film of the 15th annual Slamdance Film Festival, which runs Jan. 15-23 in Park City.
The fest will screen 29 narrative and documentary features, 20 of which come from the U.S. and 31% of which were directed by women. The 100-film lineup also includes shorts and, for the first time, music videos.
"This year we look forward to increasing our audience through new online formats we believe have the ability, in the long run, to level the playing field for the independent filmmaker," Slamdance president and co-founder Peter Baxter said.
Bringing the fest to a worldwide audience for the first time, the films also will stream live at a new Web site, indieroad.net/slamdance, part of Slamdance's newly formed online venture with Indieroad.net.
