Collections of shorts by different directors can vary wildly but this is relatively even. Stories about a chupacabra and two school meal cooks are probably the weakest, the latter out staying its welcome to drag out a predictable twist.
A story of an inanimate object coming to life is fun, and should appeal to anyone who enjoyed Rubber (2010) as the two have a similar feel. Another sketch is reminiscent of Pick of Destiny (2006), while others have the feel of American Werewolf in London (1981) and Life After Beth (2014) or Nina Forever (2015).
That's it, in a nutshell. Nothing particularly innovative, but fun to tick along with. The first and last sketches are my favourites but I felt the film could have been better with a connecting thread, like a crypt keeper, a summer camp counsellor or deranged psychiatrist to smooth the transitions. Even just a Twilight Zone (1983) twist to link those bookend stories.

Absolutely 100% pure cheese...which I enjoyed. The film is divided into chapters, ranging in length from barely 5 minutes to approx 20 minutes. In recent years I've developed a liking for shorts especially when in the hands of competent and creative writers and directors. In this case, I'm not sure that either the writers or the directors are competent, but it's over-the-top in all aspects, specifically (and intentionally) the acting, which worked. If you're looking for true horror shorts, this is NOT for you, as with the exception of lots of blood and a bit of gore, there is nothing remotely horrific about it. In all honesty, I was hoping for more legit horror, but since I enjoy (some) spoof horror, it was still worth the watch.
The first chapter was definitely the most solid of the first half of the shorts, loaded with clichés, and just the right amount cheese.
At the end of the day, potential viewers must absolutely not take this collection of odd & disjointed shorts seriously...like, AT ALL. Not even a little bit. I usually check out reviews prior to watching flicks, and it's obvious that a couple of reviewers just missed the mark on what the collection was supposed to be, obviously taking the whole thing way more seriously than either the writers and/or directors did.
There is absolutely nothing ground breaking about this collection, nor will it be something many (if any) people would watch a second time, but for folks who like blood with their cheese, this might be worth a watch. It's a quick 75 minutes, so there's not much to lose.

Not sure what you have to smoke to make it through the entirety of this but it's safe to say it was hands down the worst thing I watched all year. Unbearably bad.

A fun and daring collection of darkly comedic horror shorts. The comedy is at least amusing when not laugh-out-loud funny or clever, which it is often enough anyway. Some bits are pretty gory, so this isn't for the squeamish. I liked this and I'll watch it again.
Chapter 1 (Killer Kart): Bad things happen to a closing shift crew at a supermarket.
Chapter 2: (Horrific) A farmer has a run-in with a chupacabra.
Chapter 3: ('til death) 4 unhappily married men face unexpected consequences after offing their wives in a pact reminiscent of Strangers On A Train.
Chapter 4: (Death Metal) An untalented musician is handed down a guitar with a dark heritage and immediately breaks the rules for its ownership.
Chapter 5: (Lunch Ladies) Best friends and downtrodden cafeteria chefs Seretta and Louanne a passion for cooking and a burning love of Johnny Depp do what it takes to keep their jobs when they have a chance to meet their hero.
Chapter 6: (Bitten) In a reversal from the normal werewolf concept, a dog takes human form one night when the moon is full.
Chapter 7 (born again): A group of Satanists use one of their members' pregnancy to try to birth Satan into the world.

I don't usually write reviews for any movie but I had to write this one. This is the worst movie I've ever seen in my entire lifetime. I'm not sure why some people are giving it 5 or more stars ; For me, this was the worst experience ever. I'd rather watch a dog bark for 2 hours rather than this crap. I really suggest everybody to avoid this one and watch something better. New characters are introduced everytime and no storyline is there at all. Even highschool kids can direct a better movie than this. I trusted those high rated reviews and watched the movie and I'm sure they've never seen any movie except from this in their entire life.

I was expecting more laughs out of this, but unless really stupid ridiculous scenarios are your type of humor, you aren't gonna laugh much. Obviously none of the shorts are meant to be taken seriously. They just come up with a random premise like what if a shopping cart ate people then just see where that level of absurdity takes them. Occasionally they did get a single "Ha!" Out of me when something dumb happened or said, but for the most part is just rolled my eyes as the scenes played out. The only scenario that I full on laughed at and truthfully enjoyed was the satanic guitar. All the mayhem it caused was over the top ridiculous and then some but man was it funny. But after that, it pretty much went down hill. I will say the acting is surprisingly good for a project like this. Everyone seems to take their roles seriously despite how absurd the whole thing is. Even the dog gave a commendable performance.

Must say I was very surprised. Hellarious was a good time. Had a nice natural comedic tone to it, had a couple stories that should be in the anthology story Hall of fame(Until death, Killer cart, Once bitten) nice pacing, nice gore and effects and it had the most important element every horror film should have, it wasnt boring. Worth checking out indeed.

If you don't get what they are going for, I don't know know what to tell you. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but I just loved it. Great stories, Great acting, Great cheap special effects.

Very funny with some clever scenes. The killer kart and lunch ladies segments are phenomenal and I really enjoyed them. Worth a watch for cheesy but clever horror.

One of the most entertaining, quirky, funny movies I've seen in a long time. I wish there was a way to know which movies were like this because I would watch them all.

Not really going to please some of the people that like their comedy spoon fed to them, but for a lot of people that like subtle / high brow humor with a little bit of slapstick this was a pleaser. Also, there are a lot of references, this one is probably more enjoyable to horror movie buffs. I loved it, great job!

This you gotta see. Had me in stitches many times throughout. Easily the funniest was with the husbands. I just couldn't stop laughing. Maybe it's the reef but this thing was a blast. You will have a good time.

I don't usually utterly love every single segment on an anthology show, but this one was a rare exception. There are, of course, the strongest segments and the weakest segments. That being said, I didn't dislike a single one of them. The combination of completely ridiculous stories combined with a good pinch of humor and horror were all fantastic. None of them felt cheap or phoned-in at all.
Acting was great, production values unusually high for an anthology show and stupid fun that didn't quit made me sad when it actually ended.
Personally, Chapter Three was, by far, the best of the bunch being a silly take on Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train", with Chapter Two being a tad less enjoyable than the others. Nevertheless, give it a watch if you like totally idiotic horror happiness. Would also recommend a pack of Smirnoff Ice for added enjoyment.

It seems that Hellarious has sparked quite the debate among viewers, with many criticizing its over-the-top style and seemingly low-budget execution. But the truth is, that's exactly the point. To judge Hellarious by the same standards as a serious horror film is to misunderstand its purpose entirely. This movie isn't trying to be the next Hereditary or The Conjuring - it's fully aware of its campy nature, and it leans into it with unapologetic gusto. And honestly, that's what makes it so much fun.
From the opening scene, it's clear that Hellarious isn't setting out to terrify its audience in the traditional sense. The exaggerated performances, comically absurd plot twists, and over-the-top gore all point to a film that's meant to entertain rather than frighten. It revels in the same territory as cult classics like Evil Dead II and Tucker and Dale vs. Evil - blending horror tropes with outrageous humor in a way that feels like a love letter to both genres.
Let's be clear: Hellarious is not a "so bad it's good" movie. It's a movie that knows exactly what it's doing. The acting may seem hammy, but it's intentional. The ridiculous special effects - including fake-looking blood and exaggerated monster designs - are all part of the charm. It's a tongue-in-cheek production that doesn't pretend to be anything more than what it is: a comedic romp through horror territory. And that's precisely why it works.
The cast seems to be having a blast with the material, and that sense of fun translates directly to the audience. The characters are exaggerated archetypes - the clueless jock, the skeptical best friend, the slightly unhinged conspiracy theorist - all played with a knowing wink. The dialogue is packed with witty one-liners and self-aware commentary, poking fun at horror clichés without becoming outright parody. It's a delicate balance, but Hellarious strikes it perfectly.
One of the film's greatest strengths is its pacing. At just under 90 minutes, Hellarious doesn't overstay its welcome. It moves quickly from one outrageous set piece to the next, keeping the energy high and the laughs consistent. There's just enough horror to give it some bite - a jump scare here, a gruesome kill there - but the focus remains firmly on the comedy. And it's funny. Not in a subtle, sophisticated way, but in a laugh-out-loud, "did they really just do that?" kind of way.
Critics of Hellarious seem to be missing the point. Complaints about the film's "bad acting" and "ridiculous plot" are misdirected - these elements are intentional, not accidental. It's a send-up of horror movie tropes, not a failed attempt at serious filmmaking. To criticize Hellarious for being silly is like criticizing Airplane! For being unrealistic. It's supposed to be silly. That's the whole point.
In fact, the film's commitment to its campy tone is commendable. Lesser horror-comedies often flounder because they're unsure of their identity - either leaning too hard into the horror and losing the humor, or becoming so reliant on jokes that the horror feels like an afterthought. Hellarious avoids this pitfall by confidently embracing both sides of the genre. The scares, while not terrifying, are effective enough to keep horror fans engaged, and the comedy is sharp enough to appeal to a wider audience.
What's particularly impressive is how Hellarious manages to avoid feeling mean-spirited. It's clear that the filmmakers have a genuine affection for the horror genre. The references to classic horror films are handled with care, and the film's playful mocking of genre clichés comes from a place of love rather than disdain. It's the kind of film made by horror fans, for horror fans - the kind of movie you watch with friends on a Friday night, laughing at the absurdity while appreciating the craftsmanship beneath the surface.
Of course, Hellarious isn't for everyone. If you prefer your horror films dark and serious, you may find its comedic tone off-putting. But for those willing to embrace its campy spirit, it's an absolute blast. It's not trying to redefine the genre - it's just here to have a good time, and it invites you to join in the fun.
In an age where horror films often lean toward gritty realism and psychological complexity, Hellarious feels like a breath of fresh air. It's a reminder that horror doesn't always have to be bleak - sometimes it's enough to just have fun. So if you're in the mood for a movie that delivers laughs, jumps, and plenty of blood-soaked absurdity, give Hellarious a shot. Just don't take it too seriously - it certainly doesn't.

I laughed so hard, I almost peed! You really have to be a horror connoisseur to enjoy this film apparently. All the other reviews I read are just mean.
It's suPPOSED to be dumb, cheap and silly. It's supposed to poke fun at other films and film styles.
Why do you see other horror films? For the amazing dialogue and cartoony CGI effects? No, for the blood and bewbs!
Seriously, I thought they all did an incredible job and got their points across beautifully.
It's pretty obvious the biggest budgets were for grass, so probably get stoned yourself and watch it again.
Then watch Attack if the Killer Refrigerator :)
