Never having heard about this 2019 movie titled "Thanksgiving With the Carters", I still opted to watch it on account of it being a movie that I have no seen before. But as soon as that ethereal horse came galloping across the screen, heralding the movie as a movie from Maverick Entertainment, I must say that my expectations dropped down from slim to none.
The storyline in the movie failed to capture my interest. It was incredibly slow paced, pointless and devoid of entertainment. And that made for a very, very dull viewing experience. But in defense of the movie, I should say that it was definitely a step up from the usual stereotypical garbage that Maverick Entertainment has been known to serve to the audience. So at least that counted for something.
I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, which is something I do enjoy. The acting performance in the movie were fair, but nothing outstanding or particularly memorable. But at least it was a major step up from the insanely stereotypical characters and dialogue that Maverick Entertainment has been pumping out by the dozens.
Some of the scenes have very poor audio, making it feel like a poor produced movie, almost as if it was someone's high school movie project using their father's old digital home video camera.
This movie was a swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me, and it is not a movie that I would recommend you to waste 103 minutes on watching. It is listed as a comedy drama, but it is fully and wholly devoid of comedy elements, and only have light drama elements to it.
My rating of writers and directors Brigette Rock and Bryan G. Thompson's 2019 movie "Thanksgiving With the Carters" lands on a two out of ten stars.
