Exclusive: Strand Entertainment has signed actress Angela Sarafyan for management.

Widely known for her series regular role as park host Clementine on HBO’s Westworld, Sarafyan can currently be seen starring opposite Viola Davis in Amazon’s action thriller G20 and will next be seen in the drama Billy Knight, opposite Al Pacino and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

This past year, the actress filmed the lead role in Jose Eduardo Belmonte’s Quase Deserto, as well as a supporting part in Justine Bateman’s experimental film Feel. Upcoming, she’ll also be seen in the Prime Video series El Gato and Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Dark Matter, which is currently in production.

William Fichtner & Eric Lange Round Out Cast Of Apple Limited Series ‘Lucky’

Exclusive: William Fichtner and Eric Lange are set for key recurring roles, rounding out the cast of Apple TV+’s limited series Lucky, starring and executive produced by Anya Taylor-Joy. Production is currently underway in Los Angeles.

Created by Jonathan Tropper based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel, Lucky stars Taylor-Joy as the eponymous heroine. She is a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.

In addition to Taylor-Joy, cast is led by Annette Bening, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Timothy Olyphant, Drew Starkey, Clifton Colins Jr. and Mo McRae.

Lucky is produced by Hello Sunshine and Tropper Ink, and is created by Tropper under his overall deal with Apple TV+. He serves as co-showrunner alongside Cassie Pappas. Witherspoon EPs alongside Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, a part of Candle Media. Taylor-Joy executive produces through her production banner Ladykiller. Jonathan Van Tulleken will direct several episodes, including the pilot, and serve as executive producer.

Fichtner’s upcoming projects include Season 2 of Netflix’s Beef and Anne Rice’s The Talamasca. Exclusive: Angela Sarafyan (Westworld) will exec produce and star in Ponchik, a semi-autobiographical dramedy marking the narrative feature debut of writer-director Natalie Shirinian.

Set to go into production next spring, the film delves into the life of a 30-year-old first-generation Armenian American (Sarafyan) residing in the neighborhood of Little Armenia, Los Angeles with her immigrant parents. Over the course of the film, our protagonist grapples with the intricate interplay between her traditional Armenian heritage, her familial ties, and her own authentic identity. Tensions rise as she finds herself at odds with her mother. As the story unfolds, viewers are drawn into the world of creativity and introspection, witnessing the journey towards self-realization and fulfillment of aspirations, all while navigating the intricate dynamics of the mother-daughter relationship.

Amazon Prime Video has ordered a drama series based on the comic book “El Gato Negro” by Richard Dominguez, Variety has learned.

The series, currently titled “El Gato,” will be shot in both English and Spanish. Diego Boneta is attached to star, with Eric Carrasco adapting the comic book for the screen.

“Sharing ‘El Gato’ with audiences around the world is a dream come true,” says Boneta. “This has been a passion of mine since I started Three Amigos. Eric Carrasco and the entire team have built a character and universe that honors the super hero genre and still feels completely epic and original. It is an absolute honor to play Frank and produce this with my amazing partners at Amazon, MGM, and all other producers on this epic story. Get ready for a wild ride.”

A long-developing comic book series starring Diego Boneta has found a home at Amazon’s Prime Video.

The tech giant’s streaming service has ordered El Gato, based on the comic El Gato Negro by Richard Dominguez. Boneta (Luis Miguel: The Series, the 2022 Father of the Bride) will play the title character in the thriller, a man who finds himself at the center of a vast conspiracy when he discovers his father was a 1970s vigilante, “El Gato.”

‘Wednesday’ & ‘Elvis’ EP Andrew Mittman & His 1.21 Banner Renew Overall Deal With MGM Television

Exclusive: Following the success of Netflix’s Wednesday and Oscar contender Elvis, Andrew Mittman has renewed his overall deal with MGM Television.

Mittman, via his 1.21 label, has re-upped his exclusive deal with the studio, fresh from the launch of Amazon’s Christoph Waltz-fronted series The Consultant.

It’s three years since Mittman struck his first deal with MGM Television.

Last year, he promoted Kai Dolbashian to Head of Development at the company.

It’s a sign of intent for MGM, which was restructured in November after its acquisition by Amazon, in a move that saw Lindsay Sloane become Head of MGM Scripted Television and new roles for Rola Bauer as President of International TV.
