Goatling (2020) is a Brazilian horror gem that I recently watched on Prime. The storyline follows a cannibal family and three short stories about them. The first story is about how the family became cannibals. The second chapter is about the family's religion and how their ancestors haunt the family over time. The final chapter follows a member of the family who kidnaps his girlfriend and tries to show her how she will live within his family.
This movie is written and directed by Luciano de Azevedo in his directorial debut and stars Sandra Emília (Dancin' Days), Magui Bravi (The 100 Candles Game), Mia Mozart and Ramon Brant (Hit Parade).
This movie had a lot going for it and the director, cast and team that put this together have a bright future. The sets were well put together and everything was gritty, intense and the masks and makeup were excellent. The storyline was solid and the scenarios were unique and entertaining. I loved the stab scene in the first story and the picture at the end was creepy and well done. There were a few scene I wish the kills were presented better, but maybe I'm being picky. This was made on a $500k budget.
Overall, this is a fresh addition to the horror genre that's entertaining and worth a viewing. I would score this a 7/10 and recommend giving it a shot.
