Australian actor Jason Smith auditioned for the lead role. Executive Producer Bruce Kalish liked him so much, he asked him to audition for Power Rangers Jungle Fury (2008), for which he won the part of Casey the Red Ranger.
The show's content is very dark and violent for a Disney show in terms of action scenes, fighting, villains and etc.
