Good friends Andrey Ganzha and Dmitry Volkov, former hospital boys and now new-made lieutenants, come to a small border town of Sosny to report for duty. Andrey is not new in these places. He was taken from the orphanage to the family of Colonel Reutov, who served in Sosny, and his wife Darya. Andrey is in love with their daughter Polina and hopes for a speedy wedding. But it turns out Polina sees him only as a friend. And soon the girl realizes that her heart longs for Andrei's friend Dmitry.
