The film's creature designer (Shane Morton) did Cheddar Goblin for Mandy. He also does all the make-up for Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell, and Final Deployment 4 for Adult Swim.
"Compound" is clearly a reference to "Vice" and it even uses the same font for its logo.
