- Years ago, a series of abductions took place in this sleepy, little Virginia town. The FBI sent in their best; Special Agent in-charge, Sam Marra and his team stepped up. Oddly enough when Agent Marra arrived, the abductions ceased. An exhausting and thorough investigation ensued, and after several months Marra appeared to be closing in. Then suddenly, almost mockingly, the trail went completely cold...the evidence created to deceive...Agent Marra had been brilliantly misdirected and thoroughly beaten. Sam was asked to step aside...and reluctantly he walked away. Now, ten years later, neither the perpetrator, nor the victims have been found... The vivid memory and humiliation of that experience have been have been Sams ever-present for a decade now, a sense of defeat and of things left undone permeating every aspect of his life...Its not that anyone questions whether Sam is a good man, or a competent agent, but since the Burden case, Sam has become...a different man.
