A man suffering from a rare condition known as hyperacusis, which involves the sudden and painful increasing of volume levels, has become withdrawn into a world of his own fantasies, hallucinations and nightmares; meditations on a fractured relationship between he and his former lover, cold encounters with science and rationality, and a long distance call from a stranger in a strange room. In this surreal state he comes to face to face with his sexual fears, emotional distance from the world around him, and the fractured duality of his own mind.
