The episode just felt like the writers addressing the elephant in the room. The plot lines didn't feel natural, and the bits were incredibly unfunny which isn't consistent with the rest of the show. I get they had a message for this episode, but the execution was really... really... bad.

- TriviaThe real-life killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer led to the show making numerous changes before its 8th and final season. Four scripts that had been fully written and approved were shelved so that new scripts that reflected this event and how police officers/actions were perceived in its aftermath (and would change in response to it) could be produced. John C. McGinley's character of the NYPD union chief was moved from comic relief to a genuine antagonist, based on the character's view that no NYPD officer should ever face consequences for any wrongdoing. The season focused on Andy Samberg's Det. Jake Peralta taking a hard look at his inspirations and views for being a cop in the first place. And a main character resigned entirely and took a new job helping civilians who had been mistreated by the NYPD.
- GoofsJake and Rosa carry out an investigation involving the Seven-Four, despite the Seven-Four been shut down in Season 4.
