Dear god...
Hopefully I can spare any other people the dull headache this "movie" is. Wooden acting, inappropriate music choices, dialogue so unnatural George Lucas would object.
This project didn't even hit the basics of camera work: the operator kept auto exposure on, leaving faces underexposed because of a bright spot in the frame. He often didn't bother to use critical focus, resulting in an actor's eyes appearing blurry while his ear remained crystal clear. It earned a single star because at least some of the time whoever was in charge of sound design at least used the correct mic and you could mostly hear the actors. Mostly.
This dreck could have been an examination of Forrest's astonishing rise from private to general and his revolutionary cavalry tactics, or his heinous role in the Fort Pillow Massacre, or his leadership in the early Klan, or even his puzzling turn toward peace between black and white. No. Instead we get a cure for insomnia.
Avoid at all costs. In the immortal words of Mad Magazine, "Blecch."
