This anime is such an awful garbage heap compared to the original. Studio Deen has stopped caring about the quality of their work. The story is rushed, the characters are awful, and the main motive for Orphen is solved in 3 episodes so now we just watch him do whatever without any interesting motive

Season 1 is a 6 while season 2 is a 7,5, near 8, so my final score is 7. I know, Studio Deen. "Let's rate this 1 since Deen sucks". It's not quite like that, Orphen has a solid worldbuilding and character development, at least in the books.
They are indeed being somewhat respectful to the source material, but Deen lacks vision, creativity. Most scenes look bland and generic and anime is mostly visual, no matter how good or bad the plot in the source material is, the visual is what matters most.
So I advise you to read the books, they're all translated into english and check the 1998 anime. They didn't follow the light novels.faithfully but it's a better show because it's well written for anime, has a superb art direction and a, let's say... different ending, kind of bittersweet if you ask me.
But, uh, coming back to the remake series, once you get past the issues I appointed, the show gets enjoyable, specially because the plot is good, the worldbuilding is solid and the characters go thru some stuff that makes them grow. I don't wanna give spoilers, so I won't enter in specific details, but expect that to happen by the end of season 2.
Talking about it, season 2 had major improvement in animation and pacing, since season 1 managed to screw it up in the Heed My Call, Beast arc, a shame if you ask me cuz the first book is one of the best, but still, the plot twist is still interesting to watch nevertheless.

Really wanted to like this show and hoped it would somehow improve. Never have I been so wrong. It only got worse as I watched more episodes. Annoying main characters, pathetic storylines, weak plot development, and abysmal supporting cast are only a few of the many shortcomings. I can't believe I actually wasted so much time expecting this horrific show to somehow improve...in literally anyway. Somehow it only continued to get worse and prove newer anime is definitely not better anime. Everyone involved with this poor excuse of a show should be embarrassed and prevented from creating anything further without serious adult supervision. Do yourself a favor and either rewatch any other anime or find literally anything else before wasting your time with this dumpster fire. What a complete disaster on every level.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen is a show that I recently started getting into and am already on season 2, almost 3. This is another show that falls into the ranks of my action/adventure +comedy anime lineup. Though some people may either like it or hate it 🤷♂️ Oh well. I've personally enjoyed this, so IDGAF what anyone else says. It follows Todoroki err- I mean Orphen, and we go along for the ride on his adventures and see him get into some stuff. We also meet his pain in the ass- I mean friends Majic and Majic's sister I think? But anyway, I found it entertaining and rather hilarious, especially when Orphen yells at Majic or what's her face all the time. It also has nice visuals, especially if you see one of those cliffside views that kind of reminds you of a scene from Lord of the Rings. Plenty of action, traveling and laughs, just the way I like it. I recommend this for action/adventure fans. Eat it up!

Waiting for the second season coming in 2021. Overall not the best one I've seen in summer 2020 but it kinda works out.
