Queen Priyanka, the inaugural winner of Canada’s Drag Race, has released a new album, Devastatia.
The We’re Here star has been working hard at creating the hyper-pop album, which opens with a catchy and self-confident anthem, “I’m a Star,” that features the drag queen turned pop star telling the listener: “You are good enough / Now look in the mirror and say / I’m a star.”
The eight-track album, released Friday, has been in the works for a long time. “I’m so used to fast turnarounds and content is content that I didn’t expect for it to take this long,” Priyanka tells The Hollywood Reporter, noting it’s been two years since she released her EP Taste Test. “I didn’t also expect to go through what I went through.”
The singer says that looking back, she feels bad for herself and that’s “crazy to think about.

The premise of the drag makeover show “We’re Here” is that queer liberation hasn’t extended as far as it could. For three seasons, a group of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alumni have traveled to small towns throughout the country, helping members of the local LGBTQ community assert their identity and visibility through gender-bending performances. But even a project that deliberately targets places where gay and trans people might feel cut off from a sense of camaraderie — many locations are scattered throughout the South and Midwest, with occasional detours to California and Hawai’i — didn’t anticipate their own art form coming under such intense public scrutiny.

The announcement was made Friday on the main stage of DragCon LA, the world’s largest annual drag convention.
Valentina rose to fame during Season 9 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The judges were enamored with her beauty and style, but her run ended after she famously protested taking off her facemask during her elimination lip-sync against Nina Bonina Brown, placing seventh.
She would later compete in “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4,” also finishing seventh. She’s appeared in her own Wow Presents Plus series and modeled in several fashion magazines, including Vogue Mexico, and appeared in Fox’s live musical “Rent.”

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has named its batch of 2023 film and TV winners ahead of Sunday night’s broadcast of the Canadian Screen Awards on CBC and CBC Gem. During the weeklong celebration, which was broken up over four days, “The Porter” and “Brother” emerged with the most victories in their respective TV and film categories.
“Brother” had 13 nominations heading into Thursday night’s film celebrations and triumphed in 12 categories — including best motion picture. Clement Virgo also picked up wins for directing and adapted screenplay, while Lamar Johnson won for performance in a leading role and Aaron Pierre won for performance in a supporting role.
The film is based on David Chariandy’s prize-winning novel of the same name and made its world debut this past September at the Toronto International Film Festival. “Brother” revolves around the sons of Caribbean immigrants as they come of age during Toronto’s 1990s hip-hop scene.

Some of the best Snatch Game performances have come from the international spin-offs of RuPaul's Drag Race. Snatch Game is the one challenge where the queens are required to impersonate celebrities. The number of matches the queens makes with the judges has no effect on their score for the challenge; it is focused on being funny over being correct. The challenge is one fans look forward to every season, as it often yields the funniest or cringiest moments. There have been many versions of Snatch Game across the franchise, but all have the same overall structure of the queens answering questions in character.
While the American version of Rpdr has some of the best Snatch Game performances, the international spin-offs have shown that queens worldwide can make fans cry from laughter. With viewers from the United States watching the international queens compete, they have the added challenge of making themselves...

Shared via an Instagram post on Thursday, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” announced that it will return to airing 90-minute episodes beginning March 10. The Emmy winning competition series made its big jump to MTV in January and shocked and outraged its loyal fanbase with a new 60-minute format when the third episode aired on January 13. Also in a break from tradition, the sister series “Untucked” did not immediately follow the episode and instead aired a full hour after Rpdr’s conclusion.
MTV’s trimming of the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 episode length is perceived to have made room for its new series “The Real Friends of Weho,” starring “Canada’s Drag Race” host and judge Brad Goreski. That series premiered on January 20 following the fourth episode of Rpdr. It’s been airing in the 9 pm slot that had been previously occupied by the additional 30 minutes of Rpdr and “Untucked” when the show aired on VH1.

The Sonar Network, Canada's award-winning independent podcast network, is thrilled to welcome the addition of Semi-Qualified Queens, a podcast by former Canada’s Drag Race contestants Juice Boxx and Synthia Kiss. The show launched as part of the Sonar Network on Tuesday, February 7.
While hosting a viewing party for a reunion episode of Drag Race, Juice and Synthia’s irresistible chemistry made it clear they were meant to become podcast co-hosts. On Semi-Qualified Queens, which first premiered in January 2022, Juice and Synthia recap episodes of Drag Race and welcome the most recently eliminated queens on the show to spill the tea and the trauma. The podcast showcases this charming duo’s scintillating wit as they battle their imposter syndrome and swap lascivious puns, to the delight of their devoted fan base, the Sqq cuties.

The Real Friends of WeHo premiered on January 20 as MTV's newest venture, but while the series was created to promote inclusivity, RuPaul's Drag Race fans (and the LGBTQ+ community) are less than impressed. When it comes to reality television, MTV has been a pioneer for over 30 years. The Real World became a global phenomenon in the early 1990s, for instance, while True Life showcased hundreds of gritty, emotional, and controversial subjects between 1998 and 2017. Although it took almost ten years and 14 seasons to secure, there was a sense of excitement when MTV acquired the rights to RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 from VH1, ahead of its January 6 premiere.

RuPaul is best known as the host and creator of RuPaul's Drag Race, but the self-described "Queen of Drag" is more than America's biggest drag competition. Since the series debuted in 2009, RuPaul's Drag Race has expanded from a small presentation on Logo to an international franchise found in countries like Australia, Canada, France, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. While there have only been a handful of winners, hundreds of contestants featured on RuPaul's Drag Race have gone on to enjoy highly established careers, with some queens like Bob The Drag Queen and Laila McQueen known as close collaborators.
It's been fifteen years since RuPaul's Drag Race was first introduced to the world, and with a steady pattern of one season a year, RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 kicked off 2023 with sixteen new queens ready to be America's Next Drag Superstar. RuPaul's Drag Race UK season 4 came to an end, and winner Danny Beard revealed why she never imagined she would get on the reality show in the first place. Danny is the first bearded queen to be featured on the UK installment of RuPaul's Drag Race. She was quickly identified as the comedy queen of the season, but unlike many comedy queens, her looks on the runway were some of the best of the season.
Danny had some tough competition on RuPaul's Drag Race UK, but her unique style of drag put her over the top. In an interview with Digital Spy, Danny explained, "I never saw myself like a Ru Girl." As her name suggests, Danny Beard's signature beard is the calling card for her incredible sense of drag. Damian Terriquez (All Rise) and Kaleb Horn (Hardy Boys) have been cast in key recurring roles opposite Miss Benny and Kim Cattrall in Netflix drama series Glamorous, from Jordon Nardino (Star Trek: Discovery) and Damon Wayans Jr.
Glamorous, which originally had been ordered to pilot at The CW in 2019, tells the story of Marco Mejia, played by Miss Benny, a young gender non-conforming queer man whose life seems to be stuck in place until he lands a job working for legendary makeup mogul Madolyn Addison (Cattrall). It’s Marco’s first chance to figure out what he wants out of life, who he actually is, and what it really means for him to be queer.

I don’t think it’s a particularly well-kept secret but I am a massive fan of all things Ru Paul’s Drag Race! I honestly become overcome with excitement whenever a new season is announced but I have to admit that I am not watching as many of the international franchises as I would like to due to the sheer volume of them. Right now, for example, there are four separate iterations of the show running simultaneously. While I don’t have an issue with the volume of Drag Race seasons, I think it is the frequency that stops me from being able to watch as many of the shows as I would have liked to! With the four seasons airing at the same time this would mean that over half the evening every week would be taken up with some form of drag show which is totally not viable for me!

The official Twitter account for Canada’s Drag Race had to hastily delete an unfortunately timed tweet amid news of the Queen’s death.
On Thursday (8 August), Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully in Balmoral at the age of 96.
Earlier in the day, when reports of the Queen’s ill health were circulating in the news, Canada’s Drag Race (the Canadian version of the popular RuPaul’s Drag Race TV franchise) issued a promotional tweet teasing its season finale.
“Happy #CanadasDragRace Finale Day,” it read. “The crown is up for grabs... who is going to take it home?”
Alongside the text, the show shared an image of a crown.
The message, which was most likely composed and scheduled long before news of the Queen’s status had broken, was promptly deleted – but not before people managed to screenshot evidence of its existance.
“Possibly an all-time deleted tweet,” wrote Huffington Post’s Philip Lewis,...

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Monét X Change runs down the tricks and trades of the newest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” with a guest host. Following Friday’s ninth episode, season 11 runner-up and co-host of “Canada’s Drag Race” Brooke Lynn Hytes stops by for the chance to call Monét’s wig a toilet cleaner. On the February 1 premiere of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs. The World,” RuPaul Charles brought together nine all-stars from the series’ many franchises to compete against each other in the ultimate contest to find the “queen of the mother-tucking world.” Hosted in the United Kingdom, the new series sets three queens from the UK franchise as hosts to six other competitors. After a talent showcase, Lemon (5th place on “Canada’s Drag Race” season 1) and Janey Jacké (2nd placeon “Drag Race Holland” season 1) fell to the bottom. In traditional All Stars rules, the top two lipsynced for the right to send one of the bottom two home. In that lipsync, host of “Drag Race Thailand” Pangina Heals defeated “Canada’s Drag Race” season 1 fourth-placer Jimbo and sent her sister Lemon packing.

There’s no date set for when “Canada’s Drag Race” Season 2 will premiere, but last month fans got more news about the judges’ panel shakeup that’s been in flux since March. Two judges are out and three new ones have been named.
Season 1 saw “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 11 runner-up Brooke Lynn Hytes, actor Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and model Stacey McKenzie judging the 12 competing queens. In March, Jeffrey announced he wouldn’t be returning to the show, and in late June Stacey followed his lead. That left Brooke Lynn as the sole returning judge from Season 1.
The three new judges joining Brooke Lynn are actress Amanda Brugel, fashion stylist Brad Goreski and broadcaster Traci Melchor. Brooke Lynn, known as Brock Edward Hayhoe when not in drag, is a gay man, as is Brad. Both Amanda and Traci are straight women. The 50-50 split between gay men and straight women leaves zero...
