Former The Doctors host Dr. Ian Smith is taking a diagnostic approach to endemic “racial discrimination and retaliation” issues with the syndicated series from ViacomCBS and the Dr. Phil McGraw’s production company. This comes after CBS boss George Cheeks empathetically supposedly told a fired Dr. Smith earlier this year that the situation should’ve “never happened.” and would “be investigated Asap.”

“To date, the CBS investigation remains incomplete,” an “unlawful discriminatory practices” complaint filed in recent days with the New York State Division of Human Rights and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission states (read it here)

Ian Smith, the former host of the syndicated daytime talk show “The Doctors,” has filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New York State Division of Human Rights alleging racial discrimination and retaliation on the part of ViacomCBS and the show’s producers.

Smith, who was named as the sole host of the show in a drastic reformatting last August, claims his efforts to make the show more inclusive were repeatedly rebuffed by white producers until he was terminated in early January and replaced by a white host.

The complaint lists ViacomCBS, Stage 29 Productions and executive producers Patty Ciano and Jay McGraw as respondents.

CBS has renewed “Dr. Phil” for an additional three years, which will take the top syndicated talk show through its 21st season and 2023.

Dr. Phil McGraw is the host and an executive producer on his eponymous and hugely successful daytime talker. He is also an executive producer on “The Doctors,” among other series, and is the inspiration behind CBS’ primetime drama “Bull.”

McGraw’s development deal with CBS Television Studios for Stage 29 Productions, which is run by his son and the CEO Jay McGraw, has several new projects in the pipeline, including “Melanie” and “Chaplain.” That ongoing deal is separate from this one.

The extension adds three years onto McGraw’s current deal and will take the daytime talk show through its 21st season. With Dr. Phil, which has been the highest-rated daytime talk show for the past seven years, and three syndicated daytime programs he is producing for CBS TV Distribution, veteran talk show The Doctors, sophomore newsmagazine DailymailTV and new talker Face the Truth, McGraw has been the highest-paid star in daytime. I hear that McGraw, who also owns his shows, is making around $80 milliton a year from his daytime programs.

Currently in its 17th season, Dr. Phil took the mantle of highest-rated daytime talk show from The Oprah Winfrey Show where McGraw first made his mark before headlining his own talker.

Dr. Phil and his son Jay McGraw are developing two new drama series at CBS, Variety has learned.

Both projects will be produced by CBS Television Studios, where the McGraws are set up under an overall deal.

The first project is titled “Chaplain.” It follows a talented, scientifically minded ICU doctor and her free-thinking, faith-oriented brother. They clash over the best approach to the business of saving lives when he is hired as chaplain at her hospital.

The series hails from writers Nick Weiss and Isaac Laskin, with Weiss set to executive produce and Laskin co-executive producing. The McGraws will executive produce along with Julia Eisenman via their Stage 29 Productions banner, with Laurie McCarthy also executive producing.

That may turn out to be a lucky number for the syndicated series as it’s looking for its 11th overall victory for Best Talk Show. That would extend the record it set last year when it won for the 10th time, surpassing the nine victories that “The Oprah Winfrey Show” racked up between 1987 and 1997 before Winfrey stopped submitting her series for consideration. It's official: the BBC has announced that Jodie Whittaker is the new Doctor Who (now with video!)

As had been teased at the start of the weekend, the BBC has now confirmed the identity of the person who will be taking the Tardis keys from Peter Capaldi on Christmas day. And the new Doctor/Doctor Who (delete as appropriate, depending on which side of the fence you fall) is Jodie Whittaker...

They will take on the role in the as-yet untitled festive special on December 25th (although rumour suggests it's called The Doctors). Steven Moffat is penning the episode, up to the point of the regeneration. Then, the word processor/pens/quills (delete as appropriate) are handed over to Chris Chibnall, who will write Jodie Whittaker's first scene as the Time Lord.

Lamar Odom is opening up about the love lost as a result of his past addictions.

Odom made a visit to The Wendy Williams Show (airing Wednesday) and opened up about his troublesome past with addiction, his thoughts on mending things with ex-wife Khloé Kardashian, and how difficult it was to lose his relationship with close friend and former brother-in-law Rob Kardashian.

Lamar Odom‘s escalated drug addiction and infidelity issues started after the tragic loss of his son with ex Liza Morales back in 2006.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star first met Morales, now 38, in high school and the two quickly became teen sweethearts.
