Incredible soundtrack honestly. The music is well produced and the singing is good. Even the song compositions and lyrics are better than most movies that try to intertwine music and story telling like this. I kept thinking it might get cringe because they "sing" so many times, but actually it may be the only reason to watch this film. What does make it cringe (and often) is the acting. The acting is flat and the actors are overly aware of the camera, which gives chemistry and sincerity no room. The potential was there... the execution was not.
The supporting actors did no better at advancing the plot, nor did the writing, giving this film almost no redeeming qualities (except, of course, the music). Multiple scenes give the impression of a more complex plot brewing under the poorly executed stereotypical holiday rom com template, but they actually just turn out to be accidentally misleading us. Little insights thrown in by the makers of this film that ultimately have no connection or meaning to rest of the story.
