Whether intentional or not, the film Prey (2022) shares similarities with this fan film, most notably the setting and the main character who even has near identical face paint to Naru. When asked about this, director Chris R. Notarile stated that Disney and 20th Century Fox never contacted him nor have they compensated him.
The entire film was shot at Bronson Canyon, Hollywood in under 5 hours.
The shoot was tricky as the director had to avoid having any of the tourists visiting Bronson Canyon visible in the shots.
The original idea was to have a male Native American warrior hunted by a male Predator, but the director decided against it as he felt audiences had seen it all before with the other Predator films.
The first draft featured a female Native American warrior being hunted by a male Predator but it was promptly rewritten to feature two female Predators instead when the director realized that with the limited budget that he had, it was going to be impossible to create or find a male Predator costume of high quality.
