Meriem and Larbi are poor but love each other since they were children. They both live in the same old house, Meriem's family lives on the 1st floor. Meriem's mother is the only one working in her family, smuggling goods between Ceuta and Tetouan while the father spends his days sitting in cafes. Larbi works as a blacksmith who loves reading and going to the cinema but his eyes are threatened by blindness after an accident. When Meriem's mother falls ill, Meriem decides to replace her. She is faced by mounting medical bills for her mum, her dad's incessant requests for money and she wants to help her younger brother who dreams of emigrating to Europe. She is lured by a gang and starts smuggling drugs to get more money to help her family. But things go wrong as her younger brother discovers the drugs Meriem was hiding in her cupboard and becomes a drug addict.
